Hello
My name is Gordon i am the proud owner of 52 of 75 which has over the last year and a bit been a labour of love and expense!

i bought the car knowing that it had been in an accident around 99 and according to the DVLA rebuilt and signed off
a month later.
Not to elaborate to much at this point i am in the last throughs getting the car ready for an MOT, a major issue i have had is getting the indicators working on the drivers side, (which were not working when i picked up the car) hazards work fine left hand side fine drivers side not fine!
the indicator control relay (green vented box) has been tampered with at some point by previous owner they had managed to break a resistor clean in half and damage a couple of other components which had been replaced back to front anyway now rectified and working fine BUT the drivers side still not working, now the fuse board in passengers foot well has the 4 fuses that control hazards/indicator bulbs/column indicator stalk/and the alarm.
Now my dilemma there is a 20amp relay in position E2 and E3, E2 clicks when indicators or hazards are used ! on the wiring diagram for indicators there are no relays (mystery).
Briefly back to the cars resent history due to the damage i have another donner car 6 months younger identical wiring in both,
they both have these extra relays in E2 and E3 i have looked every where for info on these relays nothing?
one thing i have noticed is that on every fuse board i have seen in other 3200 is a lack of these 2 relays, so i removed them and yes all indicators now work fine alarm now when activated indicates arming by flashing indicators and a small green led now lights up by cigaret lighter both of these didn't work before.

So i have a small question what are these relays for what do they do? to me i feel something isn't connected that joins everything
together, this has been the largest jigsaw puzzle i have attempted so far
It docent help that the car had these issues when i bought it
any ideas welcome
regards Gordon.

Somebody with more knowledge will be along shortly but could it be whoever re built it thought all the relay sockets should be filled , I think all the cars I've owned have had unused relay sockets so perhaps they were never meant to be in there

Just seem odd 2 cars identical relays! i have been working closely with the guys doing the restoration they haven't added them.
I was more relieved i managed to get everything eventually working it has been an issue for a couple of months.

Fuse 16 is the one which blows and that is the one you mention. One fuse does all the things you seem to think 4 fuses do.

If fuse 16 had gone then there would be a whole host of things not working - basically all the rear lights, suspension "error" light, ABS etc. I dont think Gordon is suffering from these symptoms so not sure fuse 16 the issue this time?

I didn't say it was not working. He said "the fuse board in passengers foot well has the 4 fuses that control hazards/indicator bulbs/column indicator stalk/and the alarm." There are not 4 fuses which control those. There is one fuse, fuse 16 which does the majority of those.

I think mine had those two relays. It was AC No60. I sold it earlier in the year but will try and see if I can dig up a picture.

Hi
Just to clarify the fuses involved with the indicators are
fuse 2 instrument panel (direction indicators)
fuse 8 hazard lights and alarm
fuse 16 amounts other things direction indicators
fuse 20 protection for button pad( which incorporates hazard lights and immobiliser )
They all play a part with the indicators working correctly
when i initially removed the 2 relays fuse 8 popped i replaced it then every thing worked.
Regards Gordon.

I am wondering whether there is a difference between mk1 and mk2 3200's both my cars are later versions one AC other standard, wiring in both are the same (identical both OBD2) there are around 7-8 versions depending on were they live around the world.
Even thou the electrics are the same the cars are slightly different in other respects mostly cosmetic, the AC (2001) is a mk2 version the other is a mk1 but on the change!

You may well be on to something - mine was an early version without OBD and my service manual only relates to the pre-OBD models

Unfortunately my electrical schematics within the service manual show the same amount of info as yours, the pin outs on the next page (rear of fuse holder) is no real help either!
Some one must know what these relays do?

Hi
Is there a simple way to move this post over to the 3200 section rather than starting a new thread?
Regards Gordon.

Latest issue my sidelights and park lights don't work (haven't for ages),
Ihave checked the relay that's OK, there are in total 6 fuses linked to the side lights 4 are on the foot well fuse board the other 2 are supposed to be next to the small black sidelights relay which lives to the far left of foot well fuses well there are no fuses or holders! (possibly another mk2 issue)
The I.G.E controller plays a major part as well, i can whip that out and clean all the connectors, just need to find these last 2 fuses.

Hi Phil
Unfortunately the car is off the road i am in the final troughs of getting it read for the MOT after wishbones ect have been double checked!
I have just sent an email of to Carr's in Exeter explaining my situation hopefully they can supply me with the relevant details.
Maybe a call to Emblem wouldn't be a bad idea i will see how my work load goes tomorrow
Regards Gordon,
