If you have his registration number you can get a claims management company to pursue it for you.
They will run a MID check which gives you/them his insurance company and policy number.
They report the claim to his company and will organise the repair to your car and provided a courtesy car while your is repaired.
All goes against his insurance! ;-)
He then has the accident on his record which affects him for next 3 years.

I think this is your best route. The only place it is going to fall over is proving the registered driver was behind the wheel.

If it really is £50 it's not worth the ar5se-ache in my view. If the higher quotes - in the hundreds - are accurate then it's worth it.

Don't waste your energy, someone reversed their Hybrid Lexus in to the rear wing on my XF the other before driving off, very big dent - they must have known. A witness kindly supplied their details but sadly lives in Singapore. Insurers made contact, other side denied, insurers won't push because they can't get the witness to court.

Like a mug I let the repairs happen before we established liability and consequently have a higher renewal premium.

I could let the rage consume me but you know what? Some people just are grade 1 pots of toss, life is too short to let them get you down!
