How did you pick your back boxes?

Does anyone within striking distance of Herts have a 4200 with Larini X-pipe which they wouldn't mind auditioning? I don't know whether I'll be able to make any of the meets chalked up in the near future.

Cant hurt to ask, he bought the de cat pipes and mid box and was only really interested in the performance gains, but took the mid box as part of the deal. It is the H box, not the X box, so it slightly quieter too.

The OP got in with a PM to the chap first and as it's his thread, I feel that it's only fair to leave Hunta to it. Plus, I fancy the X pipes, rather than the H as I'd like a bit more noise.

I thought it was the H that Matt sold him not the X.

Anyeway, anyone know how much more sound you would get from the X over the H with stock boxes?

Sorry Elliott, didn't mean to muscle you out of any dealings that might be going on (especially since we don't even know whether they're for sale!). I'm quite happy for JMD to decide who it suits him to sell to, if at all, based on price, ease of sale etc., so feel free to express your interest if you'd like to.

No problem Hunta, absolutely no need to apologise. If you hadn't had started the thread......... To be honest, the X pipes aren't too expensive in themselves from Larini. I may just shell out for a new set direct.

I have a set of straight through rear pipes (double exhaust each side like normal but bigger pipes and, of course, no boxes) sitting in my garage which someone can have for a relatively small sum of money. They were too loud for me so I went back to stock rear boxes and pipes. Horses for courses!

So does anyone have or know of anyone with just the Larini x-pipe and stock back boxes? The more I think about this the more it sounds like a good idea, as does having it fitted this side of summer :)

Talking of which, how tricky a job are we talking about? My old man's having a lift installed in his garage... could be a good way to put it to good use.

Hi Andrew, Although you'd need to go with Noor at PI for the purchase, it might be worth giving David at Larini a call. He's a good guy and would be happy to run you through the pro's and con's I'm sure. He was most helpful when I got my sports cats.

Cheers, Miles.

Hello and welcome!Your questions are exactly the same as mine, a few months ago.I traded several emails with David from Larini to find out what i really wanted. My question was , X or H pipe?Definately would go for the X, because it would give a noticable but NOT loud volume change. What could more hear was a change in tone.
BUT:David told me that if i was someday going to replace my rear boxes, the sound (with the X) would be a lot louder than with the H.
I don't think i'm going to replace the boxes, so i chose the X. Later on, i bought a set of front sports cats, and together with the X, i have the sound and performance i wanted.Sometimes i want it to be louder in normal drive only, but once i floor it, anything is history.
Hope this helps,
Nikos
