You can reach them from inside the boot if you are an orangutan - it's also possible if you're a human being but it's a stretch. There's a wire clip that holds them in place which once removed allows the actuator to be taken off from the top. It's worth having a look at the front actuators to see how they fit as you can just about see these. Replacement is the reversal of removal which is a lot more difficult than it sounds. That wire clip is a pain to fit but with patience it will go in eventually. It doesn't matter how the actuator is refitted the ECU works it out during the start up procedure. A dud actuator won't go through the start up procedure which you can feel when the ignition is first switched on.

Sorry for asking a silly question. Could the actuator be removed if an aftermarket coilovers suspension were installed?
Also, how to disable the bloody "ERROR" if the actuators were ditched?

Finally Saturday I have the time to check the actuator motor. Found that the pax's side motor sound different to the others. It sounds like there are some broken pieces inside. Unfortunately the ABS module is on top of the thing which makes inspection very difficult.

Do I have to remove the ABS to gain access to the actuator? Or are there any better way?
In the mean time i am looking at how to remove the ABS if it is necessary. Looks like a lot of bleeding to be done afterward..... and means car off the road for quite some time.:frusty5:

Thanks Rob for the tips. Spent some time looking at the motor. I think i can touch the pax side actuator with these parts removed : 1. ignition coil cover, 2. heat shiled, 3. steering fluid reservoir.

The manual clearly indicate the rear actuators can be removed from the boot with all linings removed.
