Agree with your thoughts Andy...The last Ferrari I really wanted was a 355......When the 599 came out that is when I started look else where as was never a fan. Don't get me wrong the 599 GTO certainly was a car that did catch my attention.

Suppose the whole reason for me posting the drag race was just to show the huge difference in performance from two cars in the same category......... It shocked me as didn't realise it was that far apart...and yes as I said absolute speed isn't everything but that was just mind blowing the difference in standard cars.

Macca's have always been fast and well ahead, the 12C blew everything away when it came out a few years ago. The Huracan is properly fast so it shows how the 720S has taken it on a notch. Drive a 458 though and they are like a scalpel, proper "go where you point them" cars and compared to the front engined Ferrari GT's you just don't get the same feedback and experience. (no surprise).

The last 458 I drove was bloody fast but it just didn't excite me...the interior was trying too hard and if just felt like it was over engineered.......mwhere as the Vantage N430 which was no where near as quick was more enjoyable and fun...It was manual which I think made it more involving. Which goes towards what some have said in the speed isn't everything.......Everyone Inthink sees and feels something different in a car and there are just too many great ones out there to try before you peg it and limiting yourself to one marque you will be missing out on some great machines..wether that's Ferrai, Lambo, Maserati, McLaren, Aston Martin.....I would lived to have owned one from each of them at some stage. great cars all.

I had a Vantage n300 for a weekend and really wanted to like it but just didn't at all. Beautiful looking but just not a great car, only a good one. Everyone is different, I fully understand those that like a McLaren etc but they're just not for me. I dislike the 458 with a passion, the design is just trying too hard but I love the FF which has a 458 front end and an unconvincing rear end. Go figure! I also love a nice 911 and so i'd be very happy indeed with a Singer version as my silly money car. Wouldn't it be so boring if we were all the same?

It's the nose of the 458 .... Maserati sounds so much better...Suppose you need a V12 Ferrari to get the better noise. Have you seen the Singer tgT they have just released? Silly money ... Lovely car. The N400 did move the game on but the N430 put everything Aston has perfected over the 10 years into the N430.....Very tactile...
