Hypothetical legal question

If I were to advise the hero in this hypothetical adventure, I would agree with Beau that as they did not stop our hero, nor did they pay a visit to him at the home clearly registered with the DVLA and not far from the make believe scene of the "crime", it is not something to worry about.

I know of a similar story where the hero, driving a Honda S2000 on a particularly sunny day was stopped for speeding about 100 yards from his home. He told the two officers that he was on medication that came with the unfortunate side effect of a weak bladder. He then proceeded to get back in his car and drive the short distance home in order to attend the facilities. The officers followed him, somewhat confused. Our hero went to the bathroom and struggled to perform under such pressure and may have emptied a glass of water onto teh toilet water for sound effect. :)

Ticket issued. Never heard a word from them. I assume they couldn't be bothered explaining the event to superiors or in court!

If I were to suggest the identify of the main character named a Maserman, I could do so freely if I chose as being located currently within Scotland and hence governed by her laws and customs, I am aware of the complete lack of any laws covering the so-called crimes of defamation and libel in our fair country.

Hahahaha, come on keep it going, I'm sure C'Man (Oooppss) Maserman, will not mind us exploring the limits of what is right and wrong in this hyporthetical scenario, so that it is there for future reference to us all hypothetical Masermen..!!

Hypothetically speaking I don't think such behaviour should be condoned on a public forum. I suggest that anyone who hypothetically was involved in such antics should be barred unless they pay some sort of penalty. Making over a 3.0l 116 to me would be reasonable recompense for such behaviour ;)

A good mate of mine bought a 5 year old Porsche 997 Carrera S and got carried away on the motorway one day, only having owned the car a few weeks, passing an unmarked police car at 120mph, in the rain, that was chasing another car at 100mph at the time.
Police car decides that a nice Porsche 997 was a better catch, and pulls him in.
Mate gets the full run down, and drives home believing he is going to loose his licence and livelihood, being self employed.
The following day he panics, the Porsche he has only owned for a month, his childhood dream, must go immediately. So he phones the local Porsche main dealer who immediately collects the car that same day for the agreed amount. A financial loss of £6k in 4 weeks. He thinks when he goes to court, if he no longer has the Porsche, it will go more in his favour.
He tells no one of what he did, and waits for the envelope. It never comes.
Several weeks later he then tells me he has sold the Porsche, and what has happened.
Talking to him, I discover:
The police officer was on his own.
When mate was in the police car, he showed him no evidence of his driving and speeding.
He was never asked for his name, or address.
So the police officer basically scared him, and lied that he was to be procecuted resulting in him loosing his licence.
My mate then realised why no envelope had appeared.
It was too late though now, total knee jerk reaction, no Porsche, and £6k lighter in the pocket.

So, don't sell the Maser, it may never happen!!!

Following your recent encouragement this story is just for you Dem!

I knew a man who was innocently driving his car along the motorway. As he passed under a bridge he noticed a police car made from cardboard overhead. (yes cardboard) Imagine his surprise when the car started moving and then pulled him over onto the hard shoulder. A cardboard uniform beat officer then got out of his car and told him that he had stopped him for doing 56 mph. The driver protested stating that the speed limit was 70 mph. The officer apologised and explained that he wasn't cut out to be a traffic patrol officer!

Regards,

Paul
