I didn't drive my GTS for 12 days and now the battery needs replacing!

Guys, there's definitely a problem with some of the GTs. I've seen this issue reported pretty consistently on other forums but not that often for QPs. Maserati needs to fix this, even if some are prepared to live with it.

Been driving my QP for over four years with periods of frequent driving, intermittent driving, long breaks, through winter, summer and never had a flat battery.

If I experienced this as a GT owner, you can bet Maserati UK would have heard about it. It may be that a bean counter has asserted that it's better to deal with this on a case by case basis rather than properly investigate but I would not accept it in a £30K car, let alone a £100K car. I'd have worked with a more diligent dealer (such as HR Owen) and been on at Maserati at the same time. Hopefully I'd be doing other forum members a favour by sharing the fix if and when it came...

This is an issue which is present on all GranTurismos' I would suspect.

It will be interesting to see how it is on QPVI and Ghibli.

I also have a V6 TT and that can sit for six weeks with no issues, still on factory battery and over 5 years old.

Yep my GT has to be on a C-Tek in the garage if left for more than a week- even that failed this week and just had to order a new battery- The original Fiamm is only 5 years old and won't take any charge now....

In fairness five years for a car battery is about as much as you can reasonably expect. I know there will be some who get longer but there will also be others who get less.

I don't think it is only a GT problem, my QP lives permanently plugged into its Ctek life-support system too.

I've never had this with other cars - and all my recent cars have had the same number of electric gadgets and gizmos. Some even more: my Citroën C6 even had electrically powered suspension as well and I never had a problem with it; even leaving it for a month parked in the sub-zero Alps in winter.

This is worrying. My car will be parked at an airport for 10 days while I'm away. Not sure what I can do avoid the battery draining completely. If it does die on me, can anyone recommend the best way to get it started again.

Just make sure that it is driven a good distance to the airport and don't restart it to move it a small amount after you have parked. Turn off lights, a/c, epb etc.

I have a new Bosch S5 battery on the way after my last one lasted all of 7 months - always keep your receipts guys!

My car is not garaged sadly, it has a cover to keep out the elements, so no chance of a conditioner for mine sadly

Thanks bigbob. Silly question but how do you turn the ebd off when parked?

There's a button marked something like Park Brake close to the Sport button. Press that for a second until a message appears on the info display saying park brake off. Then we you turn off the ignition the EPB stays off.

Thanks for answering for me - didn't notice the question till now!

I always park up with the epb off if the car is wet - stops the epb shoes getting stuck to the discs.
