The MegaSquirt units have been very successfully used on Rover V8s for a good few years, so I don't see any reason for it not working on the 3200. There were pretty good value for money too IIRC. Personally though, I think the money would be better spent properly sorting the handling and braking before even contemplating giving it more power. You won't get it significantly quicker off the line as it will struggle for traction as standard and further up the speed range it'll start losing traction. If the throttle ends up not being quite so sensitive, I reckon that at the limits of traction/handling you won't be using much more power than a standard car.

Good luck with it though if you go ahead. It'll be interesting to see how you get on, so don't forget the pics and videos :)

There was a company down London way who did 3200 tuning, according to them 450BHP was achievable with ECU remapping and better air intake using aftermarket filters

But like Trev says, a more modern suspension setup and bigger brakes would be the first thing to do

Chassis is fine! He ran 700 bhp on a single turbo conversion and was eating 600bhp Evo's for dust.

Eating Evos for dust? Why would you eat dust? Also, two smaller turbos would probably spin up quicker with less lag than a single big one.

After the original video had finished I ran the one in the middle of the top row showing the electronic dash installed in it and I wasn't at all surprised to see the CEL light illuminated! ;)

Haters with 4200 and GS gonna hate!

I spoke to the Norwegian owner of this car and in the video it ran about 500 bhp on the standard internals with uprated injectors, a throttle body with wire control and front mounted inter cooler.

A year ago he replaced the IHI turbos with a single large turbo running 3 bar and managed 700bhp!

Like to see a supercharged 4200 or GS get anywhere near that, you can't beat forced induction for tuning capability, and what you in about putting the power down? My manual ran 420hp on the RR and was easy to launch!

Ate dust or ate them for breakfast! Face it you would love a car with that much power. Limp mode is irrelevant as he has tuned the car to his parameters and removed all limp conditions from it anyway. Yes he put a larger single turbo on it and removed the two ball bearing IHI turbos.

No, I think you'll find the boomerang lights help to generate downforce while the higher leather content of the interior (particularly the fact that the seat backs are real leather) improves weight distribution.

Lol and you accuse me of wanting an argument?

Ok so now I have Larini race pipes for the 3200 to aid flow I am on the hunt to get some more boost and add bigger injectors and make it a weapon of a car.

This inspired me somewhat! See you later 4200's and GS's :D

There is no point in having a 700+ bhp car on today's roads so no, I wouldn't. I hope you go ahead with it and show us all just how a virtually standard car copes with 700 bhp. Fortunately, I will be behind you to observe when you overpower the chassis and run out of brakes. I just hope I won't have to be a witness for you at the inquest.

Whatever the merits or downsides of this crazy increase in BHP, I just can't get past anyone referring to their car as being a megasquirt or maybe it's just me ...

Each to their own IMHO.

One question though, are you hiking the power massively to improve the car? Or just to see if it can be done?

As personally I think they are two completely different things.

Agree, just because something can be done, does not mean it should be. IMO the 32 has enough ooumph to make it a classic.

Remind me again about that 4.7 lump or supercharged 4.2?

I've not mentioned supercharging mine as I know the chassis won't take it, but a 4.7 won't add too much power and a big brake conversion would have to come first. Adding 300bhp is a whole different ball game.
