Hi all,

Just thought I would say thanks for the useful info for purchasing my car. I joined a few weeks back and just read through a lot of posts for a while.

I think it was woody that wrote a useful buyers guide - although I nearly forgot everything to check, As he suggested may happen, when the starter button was pressed. They definitely sound good - especially with the larini club sport x-pipe and de-cat.

I've just purchased the Black GS from VVS that a few of you have discussed and have to say in my view its a credit to its last owner.

I know a few of you said you thought it was over priced, but I thought it to be good value when compared to some of the others available. I know you said its not a genuine LE but it has all the things that mattered to me.

I noted Mr Capes view on VVS's hard sell but have to say that I didn't get that impression at all - I found them to be friendly, easy going and very accommodating.

Enjoyed the 150 mile journey home - apart from the slight embarrassment at the petrol station. Now how do I open the bloody filler flap.

I have a few questions if anyone can help ?

Is there anyway to have the faster gear change but without the rest of the sport setting - ie stiffer suspension ?

A Little scared of trying it as I'm a bit nervous of the clutch - but if you throttle hard from a standstill what happens ?

Gear changes - lift or not ?

Anyway thanks again and please expect a few more silly questions.

Welcome.

I think our cars may be twins (Black GS, red callipers and anthracite wheels?) On a 56 plate.

Where abouts are you?

Hi there and welcome

1.No ,but you could sharpen up the PIS point this will give you less slip with a more aggressive gear change
2.nothing than everything clutch will be fine
3.dont lift keep you foot plastered to the floor !!!!!

Welcome, Steamer. If you want to try embarassing first drives, try the A406 on a Friday evening, and not being able to get out of neutral because you're foot's not on the break :)

Thanks for the welcome chaps.

Safrane - sounds like they look similar but this ones a 55 plate feb 06 - cheap tax :goodnews: - I Live near Poole in Dorset.

maverick - thanks for the replies - feel a bit better now - will have to have a play - Oh what a chore.

Hopefully I've attached a few pics - I think I've reduced the size but if they are too large someone please say and I'll delete them.

Looks fab and I love the cream leather.

You are well served by Emblem in Poole who have maitained my three coupes over the last eight years.

If you are not already aware they offer a free Saturday Clinic where they carry out a three hour inspection of your car at no cost or obligation. Give them a call and tell them I sent you there way.

Thanks Safrane,

I was aware of Emblem, and due to the forum, pleased to hear of their good reputation. I had a pre-purchase inspection done on the car and VVS happily paid to rectify the few small niggles. Therefore, Is there any point in going to the clinic ? Or shall I leave it a while until it starts falling apart.

Thanks again to the others for the warm welcome.

If it has been inspected by Emblem and they gave it a clean bill of health then there is no need to take it back!

Lovely car. I'm a big GS fan - the right amount of tourer with a healthy dollop of nutter available with just a little fettling and tweaking. And noise, too, if you wish.

Re the clutch - my understanding is that if you give it the beans from standstill you'll eat your clutch far faster than will make your wallet happy. Personally I *generally* wait until the clutch has bitten fully before I give it a bootfull. But that's just me.

No it wasn't emblem that did the insepction it was the Ferrari Centre at Maidstone.

AdamN that was pretty much my feeling from the little time I have spent in it. But I just wondered what would happen if you need a quick launch into a gap or something.

Had a read out of my clutch on Monday when it was at Emblem for a service...wear rate over the 4k travelled over the year was 0%

Spending the morning at Emblem is not a chore and you may want to book now for a end of season check in the Autumn (i suspect that will be the waiting time anyway)...will also give you an indication of how much you are using the clutch.
