God this brought back the memories of the mk2 gtd I had.
If I can find a metallic green Mk2 Gti I'm buying it!

Last one I had was a black mk2 16V LHD with A/C too. Went like S.O.A.S. Gearbox went so sold it for bits but still have the aparently rare "GTI stripe" interior stored in the garage if anyones interested. Had 3 all told (a mk1 GLS which had been breathed on in Germany an 8v RHD mk2 and the best of all was the 16v mk2. I defintely prefered the 2 x LHD ones over the RHD car....everything just seemed to be in exactly the right place and not quite so spot on in RHD.

What about the rare Golf Rallye, my mate had one and put 50k miles on it. Sold it for more than he paid a few years ago, what it would be worth now I hate to think!

I agree Mark, those arches just look plain odd - trying to replicate an Integrale or E30 M3 maybe?

Still loving this car. I took Maverick out in it yesterday to show him how well it goes even compared to modern cars and felt like Bodie and Doyle :D

I think he was impressed as he asked me how many time I had practised it despite me only having driven it once in the last 20 years!

Looks Great Phil is it the last of the 1600's or a 1800 ?
Had a 79 1600 GTI for over 20 years as a Rally Car competed all over the Southwest and Wales in it.

Saw your car on fB mate! Awesome. It is an 1800.

I am at the show and the amount of interest the car has generated is very impressive so far.
