So come the 1st oh august I'll be looking for my very own Italian sports car. So a couple of questions
1. On the forums I don't see many topics about manual 4200 are they to be cept clear of.
2. Is it so theis cars don't like water at all or just if you are unlucky to have a problem with leaky car. If so can this be sorted out.
3. are the sterio systems in the 4200 that bad. And just about impossible to swap out.
Thanx in advance for any replys.
Oh on first question by manual I mean with a gear stick not padle

Welcome.

So the 4200 was designed with the F1 system in mind and the manual uses the same gearbox but controlled via cables. As these go to the rear of the car due its transaxle design any stretch/over tight makes the system very clunky. A well set up one is good but a rough one may be dreadfully notchy.
The air intake is only a few inches above the body line and if you ford water the bow wave from the tyres can build up and be ingested. ..best kep out of water.
The 4200 standard stereo is fair...it needs better speakers and a decent amp. The Auditorium upgrade has these but still on a budget.

I have loved my 4200's they offer wonderful performance for a bargain price.

I don't think I have ever played a CD in mine, the music comes from an open window!
For me, the 4200/GS is all about the engine and F1 gearbox, couldn't imagine having the third pedal!

I'm not planing on using one for water skiing was referring to a bit of rain. As have read some posts about problems people have had after leaving car in the rain. I've got my ford ranger to get over small rivers and floods.

The engine can flood if you go through standing water more than a couple of inches deep, but it's rare.

If you're using it as a weekend toy then the stereo is fine, but for long cruises or if you're really into music, I'd advise an aftermarket iPod or Bluetooth unit. Usually has the advantage of integrating your phone. Replace speakers if you like music as the originals are cr@p. The NIT (built in head unit) can't be replaced with anything Aftermarket as it also controls the aircon and some console lighting. It does not have a line-level output so you have to use amp-level for the downstream system. I have my satnav unit mounted on the original screen as it's pretty much useless.

I have a Spyder and it only leaks when the top's down!

I gotta say i love my manual! i can appreciate the CC box and sure its faster around a track, but soon you won't be able to buy a supercar with a manual box... Mine's a keeper, even when i buy the Alfieri in a few years!

Love my manual too, highly recommended. If you get the chance drive both and then you can decide for yourself.

If you go for the gransport, the radio is not integrated as in the other models and can be pretty easily swapped out.

The manual cars are generally cheaper by about 1k but do not dismiss these cars as there are a few on here that would not have the CC box over the manual...Drive both and see what you prefer...
