Hello,
My car only came with one original (blue) key and one key the previous owner had made as a backup but it does not have a remote built in. The remote functions on the factory key are not working at all. I've tested the batteries and even tested the circuit board of the key itself to make sure it was receiving proper voltage and it is.
Rather than take the car to the dealer to have this fixed I think I would prefer an aftermarket alarm which will be less expensive and give me better options. The main reason is I often like to leave my top down and would feel much more comfortable if I had a newer 2way (the type that has a screen on the fob and will page you if there's a problem like someone reaching into the car).
I've installed these in previous vehicles before but knowing very little about Maserati is there anything I need to lookout for? Will triggering the lock functions from another alarm cause any problems with the factory alarm (assuming it has one?) Trying to figure out the factory wiring to tie into the door locks will also be interesting since the car seems to lack a hard wired central locking button in the car. I have no way to figure out what wires are getting what voltage/polarity pulse to lock and unlock, so if any of you have any insight that would be GREAT!
