When I was editing the video together I was thinking exactly that. I didn't need to do it for mine so I didn't worry about it as that bumper needs repairs anyway but it didn't look great on video that I didn't do it.

lambertius, when I was looking for my Mas. the beauty, utility, and the automatic transmission of the GT were appealing. But my heart wanted a 4200 Spyder. I don't think we are 10yrs late, I think we (4200 owners) are the owners of the next classic Maserati. 3200's are stunning but too much leftover DeTomaso. Qp's are great cars, but are still sedans and like GT's made in too large numbers. Of the post- Citroen cars, the 4200's IMHO will be the ones people want. Timeless design, killer engine, cutting edge tech. for its day, limited numbers built. So.. the heyday is yet to come!

I like the sentiment but I'm not sure 'utility' is the right word... My MX-5 has a bigger boot! :saifi4:

I fell for these cars after I saw the engine bay of one once, I've never seen a factory car quite as nicely done as that. I think the cars have a lot going for them, but I think it will be many years before they show any kind of resurgence if at all. Till then though, I think its good that they're cheap because it makes them more accessible instead of languishing in a garage unused.

Compared to the boot in my Spyder, the boot in a GranTourismo is huge. I can't predict future values, but I think they have bottomed out, and are on the rise. On autotrader there are 1000's of Mas's but only 11 4200's right now, bat has none, and of 500+ on ebay only 6. Attrition is taking its toll, and the lack of serviceability is a factor as are parts costs. Most posts here and on ML are about later cars. Numbers wise, there were about the same number of Boras as 6mt Spyders.

Perhaps my figures are wrong, & happy to be corrected, but boot capacity for a GT is 261L v 300L for a 4200 Spyder.
Or, as I prefer to think of it, about x2½ per person

I guess the Coupe is smaller? The boot on my car seems much bigger than the GS.

QP boot = positively voluminous. But no need to apologise to me sir - this is the new caring, luvvy-duvvy SM. Just glad you didn't post that comment on the Schofield thread

BTW while I am making corrections, on an earlier thread I said the out of range paint on my Spyder was $6000. It was not, I looked on the window sticker, it was $2975. Don't know where I got that figure from. Ed

All I'm saying is that if I wanted a practical car with luggage space I would've bought a motorbike...

I agree, I spent two years not driving mine more than 1500 miles per year so I could keep the value up. Now it doesn't really matter so I'm going to drive it much more. Shame about the mpg though !!
