Interim service & MOT

It's almost MOT time again but I'm a few thousand miles away from the next due service so I've decided to get an oil and filter change done at the same time.
I bought oil, air and pollen filters from Eurospares and oil from Euro Car Parts on a great deal of just £29.99 for 5 L of Shell Ultra Helix.
To save time on Tuesday, I've changed the pollen filter this morning and not before time! The old one was full of debris and quite damp. So a good clean out and dried then fitted new part; cleaning out all the drain holes as I went.
This afternoon I swopped over the air filter an again it was in a poor state. For interest I weighed the new one at 510g and the old one weighed in at 610g - so 100g of dirt!
I'm using a local garage for the MOT based next to Top Gear HQ on Dunsfold Park, it'll be interesting to see if anyone's in as there was last year.
The other interesting part of Dunsfold is the testing and set up operation for MacLaren see. Lots of MP4's and even a P1.
Keep your fingers crossed for me on Tuesday! I need a pass without problems!

Yes, there's a bit of spring but I rarely use it, I just leave it in gear. But when I did last use it back in the autumn, it was laid up longer than I expected when my battery gave up. When I got back out in out, I did have some problems so hopefully there wasn't any damage done.
For the MOT, I think it may just be some wear & tear items that can happen to any car - possibly discs, pads, a few bushes here and there. But hopefully nothing too serious.

All done!
As predicted, handbrake ineffective! Adjusted the cable and all's well.
Total including MOT, oil, filers and labour £350 - not bad at all.
Let's hoe the sun shines again soon.

David: forgive me: why did the MOT cost so much money? Was it a main dealer?
MOT/oil/filter/handbrake freeing/labour?
