Interior space QP IV against GT

An '09 QP is stated to be 1990kg whilst a current GT is 1880kg, so 110 kg difference which is not insubstantial, although the quoted figures are often somewhat higher in reality due to options and specs differences.

Yep - I know the auto is 60kg heavier than the DS, but in reality? A full tank of fuel weighs more.

The point is that a GT could weigh a bit less than a QP, but there's so little in it that it boils down to exact spec, amount of fuel, weight of driver and how much **** is in the boot. Even what tyres are fitted...

I had the pleasant experience of going to pickup my wife from the airport. Was worried that her very large suitcase would not fit in the car.

Decided that I didn't want to drive her car so if the suitcase didn't fit I would empty the contents of her case into the boot.

Amazingly the suitcase fitted perfectly. Even had a couple of mm to spare. I was very happy. Wife was happy as well as I had the seat warmed up for her.

Plus the spaces at LHR car park are quite wide and the car sounded awesome going through it. Got many admiring glanced.

I find the GT very usable and practical.

There's only 50kg difference in weight between GT and QP.

Not a vast amount - there are some SM members who nearly have that weight advantage...

I'd expect the vast majority of members weigh at leas that!

:)

I meant had that as *cough* excess weight....

Oh. Ah. Yes. :)

It used to crack me up on the bike forums. You'd have lardy 20st bikers worried about having aerodynamic humps on their race suits and shaving 500g off their brakes.

Of course they could all beat me to ****, but that's skill...

Or shaving their legs.

Thing is you need to be going 40kmph for over 1hr before you get any real benefit to anything aero.

I suspect C meant motorbikists, rather than cyclists... ;)

Aero benefits are felt at much slower speeds than 40kph though, but I take your point. Just look at pro-cyclists - they don't wear skinsuits unless in a time-trial or on a track. Road racing (where the average can easily be over 40kph for many hours) doesn't require such aero.

Shaving legs isn't really about wind resistance... ;)

My dear fellow... I can assure you there will be no photos of me with shaved legs.

Correct. I did rather wonder where the leg shaving came from. I thought it was just me. :)

Although motorbikists have bee known to wear tights in the times of inclement weather

Sorry. My mistake. Thought we were talking about cyclists. As this is a discussion I have regularly on the merits of a tear drop helmet and the latest carbon lightweight bottle cage holder.

Apologies.

No need for apologies, we can readily talk about cyclists... Even Conaero intends to turn some pedals all the way down France later this year.

Carbon bottle cage? Surely you mean bespoke titanium...? ;)

I never cease to be amazed about how threads slide from the original topic to something entirely different and disappear over the horizon like an MCS!
