Is the 4200 windscreen coated - Liber-T Tag placement

Hi,

Just wondered if there was any reason why the Liber-T French Toll Road Tag must be placed in a special area of the 4200 windscreen?

The black area behind the rear view mirror is pretty small.

Thanks

I think it's as much about the correct physical location to be as close to the readers as possible as opposed to the shaded area being anything special. Could be wrong though.

If it's a coated windscreen it will only work when put in the black shaded area. Trouble is that area is small.

Therefore would like a bit of advice from those who have used the tag before and where they placed it.

Thanks

Sort of... Some screens are coated with a metallic layer, and heated screens are a problem. Those screens typically have a larger black/shaded area for the tags and garage openers. I think you will be fine in a 4200 - I have it in the clear zone to the left of the mirror on the QP, and it works perfectly.

I keep a DART tag in mine an it is tucked up behind the mirror, never had a problem with it and it is identical to the French unit so I will just swap it on the clip. The Italian one uses a velcro pad but I dont imagine I'll stick that on but then maybe it will be easier...

I put mine behind the mirror on the 3200 and 4200, worked just fine in the shaded area and just to the side of it..!!

My passenger is going to just hold up the tag as we pass through the toll. Works fine in Oz so will try it here.

I have the Sanef for France and they work well, but Italy, I'll wait and see..!!

Having recently used both, I'd say the Italian one worked better...barrier lifts well before you get to it. Toll lanes are designed so you don't have to stop at all. French one was a bit temperamental.

I found that Jon, they were sometimes a bit slow to lift, but never did not..!! A lot better than getting out and paying..!!

Update from Chamonix. The tag does NOT need to be in the shaded black area behind the rear view mirror on a 4200. You can place it in the clear area of the screen.

*Success*

Can't see a damned thing with all the stickers and electronics on mine at the moment :)
