I saw that and a few others last time I was in London. Included were IND 1, AUS 1, USA 1, ALB 1. I reckon they are issued free of charge and are non-transferable outside of the embassy. (The letter I was never used in domestic UK numbers).

I think the Spanish embassy also has SPA 1N on one of their official cars.

Would have thought that the embassy could have afforded something newer. This looks at least 5 years. And what's going on with the grill badge? And what is that extra side indicator all about - its not like that on my QP. Nice colour though.

I think it shows style, classicism and a wee bit of austerity ;)

The 'side indicator' is actually a receptacle holder for a flag. Pretty standard on ambassadors' cars.

I guess someone's got the grill badge as a necklace now, lets hope it doesn't catch on!

I've seen that car a few times when down in the smoke, at least they keep it clean..!!

Benny, are you sure the DVLA never released the number 1 after index letters, I could have sworn I've seen one, or two..??

I think it's the letter i not number one, that wasn't used - to avoid confusion between the two.
