What could possibly be worse than that?!!The opposite for me. I'd have had Crisis down for something even worse.

You are probably not too far off Peter. BMW stated c50% 3 years ago. I suspect and hope that the % will start to decrease in future.I would guess 80%+ of components for most cars are made in China... so even buying X (British/German etc) means you still feed the Asian market.
Good point though I suspect 30 years ago that there were not too many components sourced in China. I am not sure if the SEC has too many chips. Whenever I buy parts from Autodoc, I select those made in Germany. That's going to depend a lot on how you chose to count:
Numbers of components: Almost all Chinese I expect (down to the chip level)
Mass of component: Maybe a larger amount of German
Mass of raw material: Where does the steel / aluminium / silicon come from <shrug>

Make sure they don't increase the price before the charger is installedWell, I’ve done it. I’m just back from the Audi dealership having purchased an E-Tron 55 Quattro, which is a fully electric (not hybrid) SUV. I have to say that it’s not a cheap car to buy, but in theory the lower tax, fuel and servicing costs should make it stack up financially.
I intend to report back on this thread from time to time with updates as to what real-World ownership of a fully electric car is actually like. In theory, the range is about 260 miles, but apparently in practice it’s more like 210. Time will tell.
The first hurdle is to have the home charge point installed, and there’s about a 3 week wait on that currently (not allowing for the seasonal hols).
I pick it up next week, so will post some pics then. But as some of you will be expecting, it’s blue! (Galaxy Blue)
I think that is the perfect MLC option. Small, cheap, sporty looks and jacked up a little to help with getting in and out. He can add the go faster stripes himself with a 4" brush and some white gloss.SUV version

Err...my post was from two years ago! we’ve done something like 20,000 miles in the E-Tron since then, charging it up once or twice a week over that time. And don’t worry, there was no increase in the pod price between ordering and installation back in those days.Make sure they don't increase the price before the charger is installed
That is possibly the worst, most stupid vee-hickle ever.Coming to a football club near you (Or boxer etc who have zero sense of style or class)

Read that earlier ………..interesting read
Petrol cars beat electric on long distance due to public charging cost
Pricing structures at national charging networks mean that fees can be three times more than refuelling with fossil fuels on a mile-for-mile basis, given the greater ranges of petrol and diesel cars.www.thisismoney.co.uk

The wife’s “mild hybrid” Vitara 1.4 petrol is very efficient and is returning 45mpg around town and so would return more on a run.
Ice cars including mild hybrid …… hence reference to the Vitarahybrids are fine, seems to be saying electric cars cost more than ice cars on long distance
at the risk of sounding dim, what's a "mild hybrid"Ice cars including mild hybrid …… hence reference to the Vitara
