Hello Gentleman,

Having bought my first Maserati in the last 8 weeks, all I can say is wow - Loving every second ! Paid around 40k for a 2009 with 40k

I am in the process of tidying up a few small little cosmetic issues, but have started to discover a few more potentially serious problems along the way.

I thought the car was in good nic when purchased, but when having a parking sensor replaced by a major dealer in leeds, this unearthered several jobs which they recommended should be looked at sooner rather than later:

Gearbox input shaft seal to be replaced
Replace both cam cover gaskets
Replace the LH driveshaft seal

Considering the car is now 7 years old, I can expect there to be a little weeping. However being a 4.7 litre, should i get these problems resolved immediately?

PS. Anyone know a good independant near here? - yorkshire

Looking forward to more time on this forum!

Most of them weep a little, depends how fussed you are!

Hey, Phil - I 've had a look myself and it's minor, to be honest. A little concerned with its slight rattle in the morning but soon goes once the oil is warm.

It's all just a little scary after spending so much cash! (my last and other current car is a modest 2011 Freelander - a slight change in vehicle stature and utility)!

William, check the engine number and report back. The rattle could be the variators.

If the Cam cover gaskets are weeping and not leaking you can leave them to another time.

As Phil says, give us your engine number and we will check it for you.

I am new to Maserati, so limited knowledge. The only Indy I know is Autoshield Maserati in Manchester.
My car was inspected and prepped by them prior to my purchase.

You have two options really, take it to JCT in Leeds (Main Stealer) or as cheshire says Autosheild in Manchester or Shiltech for specialists. Migliore cars get good reviews too.

Excellent work from an Indie on Teesside, but if it is a variator issue then they cannot do it and I believe it is a main dealer job

Falcon Performance Engineering on Face-ache is their website

Hi and welcome William
I'm also in York well just outside if you fancy a blast out.
Mine went into JCT Leeds a month or so ago and they told well showed me actually by video that my cam covers where weeping slightly and the rear diff seal but to be honest I'm changing mine in April so I told them to leave it and there was no bother. As long as you dont have pools on the floor of your garage I think your fine.
Drop me a PM if you want to chat.

Autoshield in Manchester, not Giallo. There's also Hr Owen in Stockport or Bowker Ribble Valley and Supercar Centre in Sheffield. For a northerner your geography is way off Phil; Migliore is in Bromsgrove.

Indies can do variators (At least Giallo can). The parts still need to go away, though

You know what I meant! I know where they both are just a slip of the finger. Matt does most of my work at Giallo (Kent) and I of course meant Marios at Autoshield!Shiltech are certainly one of the close ones up in Loughborough but most of the punters up that way use JCT.

Wow guys - just got back from a 2-day trip to see all the responses - amazing!!!

I had heard good things about SupercarCentre in Sheffield, but have some poor reviews online. I'm also always put off by social media - or lack of!

Anyway, the engine number is 140219 - let me know if this is a duff one.

FF1078 - anytime! Would love to chat about my new toy (and learn the highs/lows from another whose experienced it).

I will aim to get some photos up ASAP

Thanks again

Welcome. I'm also just outside York so if you fancy a drive out let me know.

I keep making excuses for a blast up to Whitby for the fish and chips.

Good to stop off for a cuppa, or something, and a natter.
