Anyway, the engine number is 140219 - let me know if this is a duff one.

It is an engine number which may exhibit variator noise and develop issues.

I am going thru some very alarming valve noises (on my 2nd GTS, first one was an 09 I sold before it hit 10k) that are 100% constant I made a thread about it with stationary videos as recoding sound while driving was too loud. Please advise

Just been digging around paperwork and found warranty cover on my car - Autoprotect Gold. Might drop give them a ring and see what I'm covered for tomorrow. Does state I have to claim within 14 days of fault being dedected (i think I'm just in but sure JCT wont have an issue with this). Will keep you updated.

Just checked paperword and variators were sorted in 2013 - phew!

It just seems to be affected in cold weather - will get it double checked

Indeed, that's a relief and a big one come reselling time. The engines from cold are clattery and do tick but I would need to compare yours with mine to be sure it is not an issue. Best advice is to take it back if you bought it from a dealer.

I hope so! - just hoping its nothing else too serious. You would assume it's the variators as sound disappears after about 15-25 seconds after I guess oil warms.

Mine does it but only for about a second or so as it stands for days in the garage without being driven. It's probably nothing but still worth a check.
