Just Had A Bypass Operation...

Hi,

It's; http://www.badlanzhpe.com/.

I must tell you that there are a number of things to be aware of with this kit. The connectors for the wiring (apart from the connectors into the motors), are rather flimsy. I replaced them with more suitable, robust ones. In fact, cutting off these connectors means you only have to make a wire sized hole into the boot area for access to the control box. One of the flaps was sticking when tested off the car, I grinded off a tiny amout off the disc edge to ensure good operation, but not enough to allow leakage. Care must be taken when tightening up the final assembly. Tweeking is nessesary to ensure the body is not distorted and centered correctly. The bolts supplied are very soft and snapped off when I tried to undo them. They do recommend using SS nuts and bolts though.

I would recommend buying the remote control's. It means you don't have to wire into the cabin and it's more user friendly.

Actually using the flaps requires a bit of practice. The next to fully closed position is 'livable' with, but it takes time to get used to achiving that position.

Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions!

Pat,
Do you get a step type operation, or do the remotes just open, or close when pressed and then let go, how do you get both motors / flaps to operate as a matched pair..??
Cheers

With the remotes, there are 2 types of operation.

1. If you press the remote 'Close', for less than a second, the flaps close fully from open, likewise, a short press of 'Open', opens them fully from closed.

2. If you press for more than one second, then let go the button, it will open or close by a small amount, press again and its opens or closes a bit more. To be honest, its a bit fiddly at first. The best way is to connect up the units and play with them off the car, to best understand the different types of operation. As far as I know, the full 'Open to Close and Close to Open' option, is only available with the remote controls. But the step option is available both on the dashboard button and the remotes.

The two units operate as one, obviously, time them both to be either fully open or closed before operating them together.

There was a wiring fault with my control box, which resulted in having to power both motors from the one outlet. It was not a big deal however.
