Can I simply change the battery on my 2000 3200gt key fob - it's getting a bit whimpy and I only have the red key and one black key (I don't want to ** a) kill the immobilser b) destroy the alarm c) break the ignition d) cause any remaining dash lights to come on e) prevent the car from starting f) get locked out ................. zz) have a perpetual alarm...)
** delete as appropriate

Heeeeeeeeeelp.

I dropped my key and it wouldnt open the car. Open it up and found the battery connection wasn't holding the batteries in place. Rectified it, opened the car now I'm getting a code light on the dash and I'm stranded!!!!!

Ok I did it for a few seconds but leaving it for 15 mins now.

If I have to get the car towed for a 3rd time in as many weeks almost I'm not going to be happy!!

Thanks for your quick response by the way :).

What is the procedure for bringing the power back on, leave the key in MAR position?

Where did you drop the key? Has the transponder fallen out? I think it's a tiny bit of what looks like black plastic.

I opened the key very carefully and along with the key circuit was this unremarkable piece of plastic, I thought it was just a spacer but couldn't see where it was supposed to go right away so left it out.

I think its supposed to be glued in place looks like there adhesive remnants on it.. I shall glue it in place ASAP.

Normally these things are attached to the board aren't they? :)

Yay for Sport Maserati knowledgebase and intelligent search. Ajb101, mine's a pint if we ever share the same physical space/time :)

I think in the 3200 keys they were either loose, or simply stuck into the casing as opposed to being actually on the board. Mrs Catman's old GTV key was similar.

It was definately loose in mine - I remember spending a delightful afternoon searching through 10 day old bin bags trying to find that 'little bit of nasty plastic' that I had chucked out without realising what it was. For once fortnightly bin collection was a good thing and almost by a small miracle I found it - in the bottom of the last bag obviously.

Maybe at some meet in the future :)

:-O

"It's always to be found in the last place you look" :)

Should get this added to the buyers guide on pistonheads... Mine also was destined for the bin. There really ought to be some writing even if it is just a trident!!

Mine has two cr1220's stacked one on top of the other held together with a plastic ring.
