Keyfob switch

Both keys for my car have had the rubber pushed through/split so I've ordered new buttons.

However, the spare key had the boot opening switch broken away from the PCB.

I've just replaced both switches on the spare key, using switches off ebay @ £1.70 for 3 of http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390368257141. I might have been lucky that the pads on the PCB weren't too badly damaged so changing it was a doddle.

I then synced it to the car using the method that I read about on here, cycling the lock using the working key until it no longer responds, then press the lock buttons on each key fob

= two working switches

Just thought I'd share if anyone else has the same issue and is worried about giving it ago.

out of interest - where did you order the key buttons from?

as I have just had a quote for $1100 AUD each for 2 Spyder car covers - I shudder to think what a 'genuine' key rubber may cost.

There was some on eBay recently for £10 but they're available to order from the usual specialists for only a few pounds more.

Talking about keys...
My fob never worked since I bought the car and had always to stick the key in the lock to open. First thing I put new batteries, but didn't help, so I gave up for a while. A year later I discovered that the Alarm Central was disconnected. I inserted the plugs in place, but still nothing worked. Again took the key apart, batteries were good, I measured the voltage on the soldering in the fob and there it read 0V. I had to clean the black round spot on the board where the battery sits (-). Put the batteries back and what a surprise... I have a remote control now !!!
Thought it may be useful.

The rubber cover on one has a small nick/hole forming, so concerned it will develop into a larger hole/problem
