Very nice!

Always a big fan of the early XJS although to be fair I have a bit of a thing for Jags anyway. It was a brave move to release the XJS after the E but was the right move (despite the uproar from some) and proved to a nice long run.
A very cool car well done.

Good to see how many of us seem to have a soft spot for these. My Dad had one as a demonstrator for a weekend once. Absolutely loved it, which probably propelled me to buy mine. Shame it proved so woefully unreliable and expensive to fix. I'd have a decent one in a heartbeat.

Lots of people talking up prices of these, particularly the early ones. Harry Metcalfe has acquired two recently. Nice Harry's Cars about one of them on Youtube

Just watched that recently and it's changed my opinion of these. When they were being manufactured I thought they were an abomination: not as beautiful as an E-type and no great performer either.

But they have grown on me and I loved Harry's review of it.

Congrats on the purchase. I salute anyone who drives something a bit different.

Top vehicle - classic Jaguar. Still looks good 20 years down the line. Neighbour had one when we were kids. Bless him - he must have bought Qatar ferrying all the yoof around. His son and another 3 kids in an XJS to go to the local newsagent. Happy days.

I owned this between 1996 and 1998. Lovely car, the 3.6 straight six engine was great for wafting around in but gave lots of power when right foot applied purposefully. Happy days.

They really did look striking back in the day...Follow a convertible version today...Not seen one on the roads for years.

As promised some more photos now it is back at home and I have finally had the opportunity to give it a good clean and polish.

Plan is to search for the few bits it needs and get it properly on the road for the Spring and in the meantime I will sort the interior out etc.,.. in my spare time and find a nice stainless sports exhaust and manifolds for it, nothing too noisy but just enough to savour some of that V12 noise.

It's never struck me before but the back wheels look to be too far forward, leaving too much of a rear overhang. Strange that I've seen hundreds of them but not noticed that before or is it just me?

Haywood and Scott in Basildon do a lot of bespoke work for Jags. Last time I was there they had an EType, XK and an XJ6 in there. And they're not horrendously expensive either.

Might be that it is such an early car and later cars are different or the early trim - or lack of it - changes the visual perception.

Are they US spec bumpers?...they do look chunky?

The early cars had bumpers that would pass US legislation but they were not US spec per se, part of what makes the early cars interesting. Not their greatest design feature but in other areas they are more pure than the later cars,

Yes they do and my good friend Mark just fitted some of their headers for a customer, beautifully built (I also know them from my Subaru days). High on the list for sure, I will be doing research and deciding accordingly but many thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated.
