See now breaks confuse me...When I had the CSL I was going to put some AP's on as BMW breaks are pron to fade....I would have thought AP's would cut your stopping distance down but I was told by the racers on the forum that all it doesn't...What a break upgrade does is stop the fade so you can stay out for longer....I'm still not convinced.....But I wasn't going to spend bloody 3k on the upgrade just so I could stay out on track a little longer.......God nows.

AP Andy have Guaranteed me atleast 20% greater efficiency if not more , larger callipers larger discs , increased venting and heat dispersal , S/steel lines and non degradeable fluid , we can but wait and see , worst is i'll catch you all up on laps 5 or 6

Yep efficiency.......I think that means they will last fade free for longer....AH well you can test it on the day...Go into the final chicane and break later on the 2nd lap....If you hit the control tower you can go back and have a word with AP.....Great brakes though.

The tests they did pre disc and caliper manufacture showed that by larger discs and larger 8 pot callipers will increase stopping power by 20% minimum , the fact they will be applied for shorter times means less heat input and the extra venting should make for quicker heat dispersal Hopefully that is , we will have to wait and see

Guys,

My last visit finished off one of my tyres [FNS] yet the OS still had 5mm left so is now a spare sat in the garage. Replaced both as the fitter did not stock them as the were 'Old' type

Question, will it be OK to pop this one onto the FNS despite it having a different tread pattern? as I do not want to wast it or wear out the new one I have on the front now.

Both are Michelin but the old one is the V Shape tread pattern where as the new ones are the single direction only.

Hi Andy,

Have been trolling around cyberspace looking for in-expensive track-day helmets, but struggling to come up with anything under about £150? If that's the base, I'll risk whatever's on offer at the track, but wondered whether you have any recommendations?

Thanks for your help, Miles.

I think I paid £70 for a open face bike helmet.....As long as it's an helmet doesn't matter what it is. I would go to the local motor bike store and get a moped one thats cheap esecially if you are only planning 1 or 2 track days year.....I look a **** in mine but hey who cares when you having this much fun....

If you want a good one then these are pretty good for £109...depends really what you want.

I pretty sure Llandow don't have helmet hire being a small track but I will ask the question......I will bring 2 helmets so there will be a spare.

Thanks Andy, Thanks Loz, had checked ebay and several others but had discounted bike helmets as I thought certain tracks didn't allow them for cars?

I have a healthy distrust of fleebay so will check out my local bike shop.

Cheers, Miles.

Miles, to put your mind at rest I've been to Goodwood, Coombe, Llandow, Donnington, Silverstone and Monza...all are OK with bike helmets.

Maserati/Ferrear make carbon helmets..saw them at Dick Lovett in Swindon......£2000 I believe....That would make Llandow and very expensive track day.

If you're not too woriied about how you look then go to a motorcycle store and buy your own helmet. They're not expensive and then you know only your head's gone in it.
