As you are all probably aware I have lost two of my closest friends in recent times and that has inspired me to do something crazy to raise money in their memory and for the charities which were close to their hearts.

Both of them went that extra mile in life and in recognition of that I am undertaking a mammoth 1,000 mile bike ride to Barcelona. The ride will really test my resolve and stamina taking 15 days of some really gruelling cycling.

I am determined to make it, and really only injury will stop me. I have been training for 10 months and am already clocking up between 150 and 200 miles a week, hence my long absence from the forum. There is a dedicated website for the ride for those interested in the challenge I am undertaking. http://www.the-life-cycle.co.uk

I know times are difficult and I fully understand. I don’t want anyone to feel obligated to donate but if you can, the details are below. They are both very worthy causes.

Lawrence Matz sadly passed away last summer at just 58 years of age after a courageous struggle against pulmonary fibrosis, a cruel and horrific disease for which at this time there is no cure.

It is a relatively new disease which is alarmingly becoming more common, and it already kills more people than ovarian cancer.
The charity which he held close to his heart was Breathing Matters
