Hi everyone, I am looking for a 2002/2003 Spyder, must be manual and not green or silver. I presently have a 2003 Range Rover as an everyday car and a 2007 XKR which I am selling to buy the Spyder, I want something that is more of an event to drive which, after test driving a couple, I'm sure the Spyder will be. I also have a supercharged VX220 which I use just for track days and which I would never sell, it will be in my will. So if anyone has a Spyder to sell or knows of one please let me know.

Ah, Mark, 1st post....I have seen you lurking for a while, welcome.

I am sure you will get a whole host of advice from the very knowledgeable member base.

The VX sounds like a hoot, are the superchargers factory or after market.

As for the Spyder manual, I know little. All I know is the later GS where all paddle shift. Have you tried the paddle shift, you may be very surprised?

Dont base it on what that tit Clarkson said, he is a buffoon.

The VX was supercharged by Courtenay Sport, its an aftermarket conversion but uses all GM parts off a Canadian market car. Gives it 250bhp with 800kg which makes it interesting. Drove a CC at the weekend and hated it, sorry. The test drive was in traffic most of the time but living in SW London its going to be used in traffic a lot. I had an M3 SMG which I couldnt get on with and ended up selling. I bought an 02 manual Spyder this afternoon and pick it up at the end of next week.

Fair enough, sounds like its not for you, at least you drove one and formed your own opinion.

Good luck with the manual search, it migh be tricky, as I know most 4200 are CC, and manuals are hard to come by, the Spyder is even harder to find.

Hi Mark and welcome.

Am I right to think that you 1st posted this morning and by this afternoon you were the owner of a '02 manual Spyder? Blood and sand that's impressive! Well done! Hope to see pictures in the not too distant?

Cheers, Miles.

Been looking for quite a few weeks but only posted this morning. Seen quite a few cars but finally found a suitable one this afternoon.

Good man - Bright is right...Love the wheels. Same as the ones on the Elise 135R..

The wheels are Oz Superturismo, very rare, very light only 50 sets were made for the VX (commissioned by Thorneys in MK) and quite a few sets have been wrecked, I looked for ages for some and found some on good old ebay. Had them refurbed by Wheel Specialists in Fareham on a one day turn round, they did an excellent job and I can thoroughly recc them.

Anyway, Back to the Spyder! Looks prime Mark. I do like that interior colour. What do Maserati call it? If I may ask.. where did you get it? Are you bothering with an indi' inspection or are you satisfied with the history? Hope the weather holds out for you so you can have a good blast (with due care and attention of course!) next weekend. Where are you by the way? Some of us are at Silverstone on Sunday. Are you going? If not we're meeting up at The Folly at Towcester beforehand if you fancy a bacon butty and some chat?

Cheers, Miles.

By the way Mark, thanks for the comment on The Wheel Specialists. I'm seriously thinking about using the Nottingham branch to change mine to graphite and went up to check them out. They came over very well, but have been uncertain about the one day turnaround and whether this shortcuts the curing process, so it was good to get your recommendation.

Not sure what the Maserati name for the interior colour is, must say it wasnt my first choice as in the advert photo it looked more orange than it really is. After seeing it in the flesh I really like it. I'm Surrey/SW London so wont be able to get up to Silverstone/Towcester. I was going to have it inspected but in the end went down and gave it the once over myself. I know Maseratis are not the norm but I'm quite confident I was thorough.

The finish is excellent, they did have a problem with one reacting in some way and had to strip it and do it again. I will report back if, in time, I have a issue with them.
