Congrats looks like a great car. With spring around the corner you will not have to endure driving it in the cold weather too much either.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and congratulations. Defintely think the forum helped tip me over the edge and get one of these rather than a 997. Currently feeling good about the unexpectedly low insurance quote, offset by the mild horror of the road tax (registed 6 months after the tax change...but I guess I've got bigger bills on the horizon) - I'd better get my money's worth by using our immaculately maintained road network as much as I can. I'm going to make a conscious effort to ignore petrol consumption, maybe by sticking a post it note over the odometer...

I look forward to pestering you all with questions about wheel alignment, paintwork and leather protection and tyre choices...

:too_sad: I love that car, seeing those pictures of it makes me have second thoughts about getting rid of it! Still the deal is done......

It also has lovely custom made floor and boot mats in black with beige piping (to match the interior) and the Maserati logo embroidered onto them.

Hopefully I won't feel as sad once I have picked the MCV up from Dicky next week.

I have a GS! Just put a deposit down on this:

Looks lovely, I kept logging onto their website to look at this car. It seemed to be the best deal on the market, I'm glad it checked out to be a good one as I had been contemplating taking a punt on this myself.

That GS at Dickies looks lovely, I bet that won't hang around for long

The tax on my old Impreza was £500 a year , I used man maths to justify it , paid it monthly so over the year it was only a £4 packet of sandwiches a week more that a pre 06 car

A lot of people spend £10 a day on fags so £10 a week for a Maserati is a bargain

Congrats m1980k. Lovely looking car. Yes the car tax is steep but you will forget about it the minute you turn the key for the first time. Its always struck me as being stupid that if you get an earlier 4200 / GS i think its pre october 2004 IIRC then the road tax is half the amount for the same car with the same engine and emissions.

Its a fair bet your going to have a sleepless night the evening before you go to collect you car. Congrats and enjoy.

Close, pre 23rd March 2006 for cheaper tax, a vehicle registered after that date wil be £400 plus.

Its something like £255 for the earlier cars isn't it ? I understand the logic of forcing the manufacturers to improve the emissions but it seems the end result was strange cases like the 4200 /GS and QP example. Worse still you can drive round in 7.2 litre Jensen Interceptor road tax exempt. I still think it would be a much fairer system to tax at the pump so we pay based on the miles we do and fuel efficiency of the cars we drive. Perhaps the VW Group emissions scandel would not have happened. Low miles per annum on a high emissions car against high miles per annum on a lower emissions car. You would think a formula could be worked out with the systems for Mot And tax and insurance being linked.
