Looking for Gran Turismo

Hi All

I am relatively new to Maserati ownership and loving it!

Looking to upgrade from my 03 4200 CC to a Gran Turismo. My budget will probably stretch to a 2008 - 2009 plate and have seen a few prices from early £30k's - £39k.

Does anyone know what I might get in p/ex on my 4200? It is in great condition with 52K on the clock.

Is there anything I should be looking for or aware of when looking at the GT? Any help/guidance much appreciated. Alternatively pls feel free to private message me with any vehicles for sale.

Thanks

Be ready to have your trouser pulled down on px........It you can try and sell private.....Dealers tend to go in very low on a 4200 just on case there is work to do on them. Even if your car is a lovely example which sounds like it is would imagine they still will not want to pay a lot for a 2003 car.........unless they have a large mark up in the car our buying...

Sure someone will be along to give you more advice on GT purchase and what you could be looking for in PX but have a look at the cars for sale on Piston heads...get an idea of what you want for her and have that on your mind when striking a deal....Sorry can not be more help.

I bought mine about 9 mths ago and am no expert. Its an 08 plate, low mileage (13k at the time) and back then paid £39k for it, which against the market of what was out there was a decent price.

That said, my only piece of advice is to shop around as there are a lot of examples in the market and they do regularly crop up. There are of course a number of exterior / interior colour combinations so take your time to decide what you can live with - some like black / black, others like the 'brown' leather interior, but for me it had to be black with a red interior - all down to personal taste of course. And then be patient for the right car. I was about to put down a deposit on one for a couple of £k more with more than twice the mileage and a few flaws e.g. knocks on the paintwork doors, a bit of fading on the vinyl dash, and an (indie) dealer who initially didn't take me seriously (he sort of apologised during the process, but only 1 chance to make a first impression and all that). And then the night before I was going to go ahead, I gave it one last look on t'internet and up popped the one that I bought as a veritable bargain.

Sounds more like it. My knowledge is more out of date, my 4200 went three years ago and was two years younger.

Thanks for the replies so far.

The px amount is pretty miserable but of course the dealers need to make a profit.

I also keep reading alot about inspections but (and this is going to sound pretty stupid) do they come out to inspect the car and if so, has anyone posted a list of inspectors that offer this service?

I bought my first car through Richard Grace and have to say it is a great car and due to his reputation, I did not get an independent inspection. However, spending considerably more on a 2008-09 GT, I am somewhat concerned that I might be buying something that is not all it appears to be and whilst I know this is the case in almost all purchases, if you can minimize the risk, all the better.
