Again, thank you. Amazing to learn more about the car. I've already concluded that if I can't own his car one day, I am definitely interested in owning a 4200!

My story started with a run in a 3200 with a friend that left an impression that lasted 12 years before I finally bought one.

One last piece of info. The car in Scaf’s picture is a facelift 4200, with the revised Gransport like nose and horizontal slatted grill (@MarkMas) which means it is certainly one of, if not the first facelift car in the U.K.
Arghh!
Don't poke the bear!

I've been longing for a V8 weekender and would love it to be his old car, and if not at least a 4200 for me to relive those years spent in his.

You will get the car somehow. I know it. The car from Masersti produced in June/July onwards, are other next year model, so given that this car was first registered late 2004, it is 99% sure a 2005 year model. The 4200 Facelift was 2005 and 2006 model. Maybe also 2007? They are the best looking cars from 3200 to GranSport in my opinion. Best of luch in the search. The color look like Ferrari Grigio Alloy. I don’t know what Maserati called it, but Ferrsri and Maserati used the same colors for many cars. For example Blu Maserati is same as Blu Pozzi in Ferrari color. So saying this Maserati is silver is not actually wrong.

Thanks for you good wishes, I am hopeful that I can at least track the car down and visit it - needless to say I would love to own it too! Thanks for the info on the colours too, very interesting. I love the model in question, also find the 3200 & Gransport stunning.

Hi All, thanks so much for your input - very much appreciated. I also saw the auction picture/ listing on Brightwells however it is not listed on any of the results so I assume it was sold outside of the auction. @Zep when I search DVLA for F1BLJ it is listed as a silver vehicle, whereas the car was blue - could this mean it is a different car or anomaly in the registration etc? Unfortunately I do not have any other pics of the car to add.

Our 54 registered cambiocorsa is also described as silver on the DVLA registration certificate but Maserati colour is defined as 'Argento Luna'.

Best of luck - they’re great cars and I’ll probably buy mine back at some point over next couple of years!

DVLA paint pallet is rather limited, most v.light grey, blue cars are recorded as silver on their database.

Ah - guess it’s not that unusual then.
