Lost key - how do I get a replacement for my Gransport?

hi all,

As part of getting ready for LeMans I’ve realised I can’t find my spare key for the Gransport. I know it’s in the house somewhere, but it’s proving impossible to find…. This scares me a little bit in terms of travelling to France without a spare set of key, but I also know I am going to need to get another one in the long run.

I’ve done a quick forum search, but couldn’t find anything, so figured I would ask the simple question - how do I go about getting another key ordered? Do I have to do this through a Maserati main dealer?

thanks in advance,

Jon

Emblem got me one as one of mine was a little lazy in operation (and I am sure @conaero could also at SI) BUT you need V5 and proof of ID and original key card and then it is ordered from Maserati Italy. I was told it could easily take 6-8 weeks depending on time of year. In the end it was about 4 weeks. It does also then need coding as I recall. I think all in it was around £320.

Timpsons seem to be able to clone quite a few keys now... worth a try given how old the tech is now.

Yeah there are increasing numbers of reports of copying keys of the Coupe and indeed the GT. Worth an ask for sure, but if you lose on, effectively you have a key floating around that can't be deleted from your car without deleting the other. Also central locking may be an issue (or is on the GT)

Yeah - there seems to be plenty of people who say they can come out and get a replacement key cut and recoded to the car within a day…

I would still want another original, but this would at least provide me with a spare for while in LeMans…

What I did was....
Contact your car insurance provider. Ask if you have key cover. If you haven't (I didn't) get a quote to add it on (it's usually with an external provider like keycare) cost me about £25?

Wait an acceptable time, say a week.
Call them. "I've lost me key". They will then offer you to either order a new key from a main dealer yourself, and pay then claim back the cash, or let them do the whole thing (takes a bit longer).
Either way you get a nice shiny new key and no messing about with Timpsons or any of their ilk

I don't believe that website for an instant. It's (I deeply suspect) autogenerated by a google search. Just replace 'maserati' with your brand of choice....

Interesting they don't claim to do Paganis ;)

But I'm a cynic.

Absolutely no doubt - on one of the pages they talk about the different types of Maseratis they have provided keys for, and it refers Maserati C1, C3, Picasso, etc…

Hi Jon

If you PM me i can give you a short term work around if its for 4200/GS that will give you 2 keys that work for the trip and give you time to find the spare.

Obvious reasons im not going to post on the open forum.

Replied.

What i have sent you will get you round your immediate issue for the Le mans trip.

Long term if you cant find your spare then its either dealer or i think abacus alarms can produce a clone key and button fob for the alarm.
