Hi
I am looking for some help with my 2008 QP. I have only had the car a few months now so still getting to know the car. The car has developed a problem I think, when I start the car in the mornings and have it in sport mode the car does not drive smoothly it is very jerky. It seemed to appear when I changed fuel suppliers but cannot guarantee that it is a fuel problem. Is it normal when in sport mode and I should have sport mode off til the car warms up ?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Not sure what you mean by fuel supplier? DO you just mean you changed brand? Sport mode makes no different in this regard. Can you give more detail? Jerky?

I will check to see what the car is like at 90degrees in the morning.
Yes I chaged from Esso to Q8 the super unleaded stuff.
The car starts fine no problem but when I drive it and put my foot down (a little) the car sort of jerks, surges so the power is not smooth (difficult sorry to explain) after a mile or so it seems OK.
Apprecaite the help guys and is this normal ?

Let the car warm up a little, apply power smoothly, change gear before 4000rpm, until the car is warmed.

What you are experiencing is NORMAL.

Thanks REALLY Helps

I will watch the temp guage tomorrow and see what happens

Maybe let it warm up for a few minutes before driving off

I will post my findings tomorrow

If you allow it to warm I'm quite sure you won't get this issue.

So when cold it's jerky under throttle on a given gear rather than when changing gear? A little late to pick up on putting your foot on the throttle? Does sound like a warm up foible as Rossyl mentions.

You could always try some redex in the tank to see if that will clean up the throttle response, may be gummed up a bit..??

I always let mine warm up, but I would suggest that, if it's fine when warm, what you are experiencing is normal. Ferraris are similar, you certainly used to have to warm them up completely, engine and transmission, before giving it any.

Ahhh...the foibles of Maserati ownership. When mines been sat for a week without use, it likes to blow white smoke for 30 seconds out of all 4 pipes - looks great, especially in cold weather! Second only to seeing an Aventador spit flames from its exhaust!

Sometimes mine feels a bit lumpy when I have to set off cold, it's just the way they are, warm up a bit and it should settle down, if not a bit of Redex to clean your bits, or even a throttle reset while you are waiting..!!
Cheers

I waited this morning til the temp guage hit 195 (middle) and the car seemed to behave so I will put it down to being cold, however it did improve I felt also after using super unleaded 97 from Esso instead of the same from Q8. If redex does no harm and can only help matters then I will give it a go.

Thanks to everyone for the advice/help/input

Can I make a suggestion when starting from cold.
When you turn the ignition to position one( i.e so the all the warning lights come on),press the throttle slowly twice... then start the car. This works on the GTS-Mc ( although no-one seems to know why, even the dealers), but hopefully you'll be amazed at the difference.

Well remembered! Odd one this, but you're right - it's a habit for me now, don't even think about it. Part of the ritual of Maser ownership.

Anyone tried this on a 4200?
