I'll take the Swedish child minder, providing she conforms to all the usual stereotypes - in return for the car + my wife (no negotiation).

Indeed I am. An MC - white one, red interior, sounds ridiculously loud...! If you look at Graypaul in Birmingham, it may still be up on their site...

That is just great news..Looks stunning...Well done...

Oh and your GT looks stunning as well..hope she sells soon for you.

Well, that went quite well then. I only put the ad on Autotrader last night and added the photos this morning. A few calls (including the usual 'will you take £30k' types) and someone's now left a deposit, collection tomorrow!

I'm toying with the idea of doing the same thing myself... Mine (an 08 4.2 nero carbon over tan.. 22k miles right now)..... be very interested in what you got for yours.... if you're able to share that when the deal is done..

Good look with the new one...

Have just sent you a PM. Mother told me it was impolite to discuss money in public :)

:argue1: Its a GranCab MC Sport Stradale MC Line MC Shift Auto. NOT a GranCab Sport MC Stradale MC Line MC Shift Auto! How many times...!?!! Grrrr...
Ha ha, too funny :saifi:

Congrats on the sale of your 4.2 GT and the purchase of the Graypaul Birmingham MC. I still have a soft spot for my old 4.2 GT, but the GC MC is an entirely different car - sportier, improved handling, much better brakes(!), much nicer noise (I tend to drive mine in Sports mode most of the time now just so I can hear that glorious Sports exhaust),... They've also improved the SatNav c/w the ones in the 2008 GTs; still not at TomTom levels, but better than it was.

I saw pics of the Graypaul Birmingham MC - looks very classy :excellent:
FWIW, on the whole I've found Sytner dealerships (like Graypaul Nottingham and Graypaul Edinburgh) to be pretty good, so hopefully Birmingham will look after you.

When do you pick up your new toy? You must be excited :D

All being well, on Saturday. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is ok, so that I can drive back with the roof down! I'm a great proponent of 'if its not raining, get the roof down - and put on the heater if necessary'.

Correct approach I think as there would be plenty of input both ways otherwise. The good thing is that GT/GC values have held up well.

I wish that the GC MC was made as a GT as well as I don't like the Sport front end or the automated single clutch gearbox so both the Sport and the Stradale are out for me. Good thing really as it means I will sit with my 61 plate GTS Auto until we see the new large coupe so Maserati have saved me a load of dosh!

Many thanks for the PM's .... good to know i am where I thought I was...

Can someone please explain the model nomenclature here ?......
Cabrio... got that bit..
MC shift... I had thought that was the robotic manual with clutch.... had a 4200 cambiocorsa before - great.. but I'm past that now.. want an auto..
Sport front end ?..... lost now..
Stradale ?....thats the track car for the road... can do without the racing paraphernalia ... harness's that sort of thing.. just no need..

Basically, I'd be keen on something that looked like my 4.2... with more noise and no roof and an auto box...ideally not in black or white (unless fuji) ...is there such a thing ?...

And what would it be referred to without risk of offending anyone ?...

Really?!! ;-)

Inevitably more noise comes from the 4.7 and no roof = Cabrio. From dipping my toe in this market - or rather having thrown my bank account into it just now - Tilum's earlier post here... http://www.sportsmaserati.com/showthread.php/15157-Gran-Cabrio-variants
...gives a good overview. But, the key points (lifted from the aforementioned) are:

1. GranCabrio
2. GranCabrio Sport (pre-facelift, similar to the GranTurismo S)
3. GranCabrio Sport (post-facelift, similar to the GranTurismo Sport)
4. GranCabrio MC

N.B. All have a 4.7 litre engine, and all have a 6 speed Auto gearbox (i.e. with the gear lever). However the Sport and MC models have a more powerful version of the 4.7 litre engine, better brakes, and have the very impressive MC Auto Shift software (allowing 'proper' manual control over the gear shifts), and the Sports exhaust (as per the GranTurismo S, and Sport models).

The GranCabrio MC is different again. It's the convertible version of the MC Stradale, and it has the same bonnet as the original (2 seater) MC Stradale (which has 2 air vents), brake cooling vents on the front side panels (as on the MC Stradale), and the MC Stradale exhaust (two single circular sports exhausts mounted high up above a rear diffuser).

Me too :) I used to drive my 981 Boxster with the roof down in the snow LOL. With the heated seats on, and air con at full temp, why limit top-down driving to just summer days :)
Fingers crossed Saturday is a warm, sunny day though so you can enjoy basking in the sun in your new toy.

I should have added that unlike the original MC Stradale (which was a 2 seater, with the option of bucket seats and race harnesses etc.), the GranCabrio MC is a 4 seater (like the new MC Stradale), with the same 'new style' seats (with integrated headrests ans better side support) as in the GranCabrio and GranTurismo Sport, albeit with Alcantara trim as standard. If you think of the original GranTurismo MC Stradale as the 'road legal race car', the new GranTurismo MC Stradale as a more usable version of the 'road legal race car', and the GranCabrio MC as a bit more hardcore than the GranCabrio Sport, but smoother than the new GranTurismo MC Stradale then you won't be too far off... Maserati certainly know how to make life complicated LOL
