My front tyres are wearing unevenly on the inner edges, have been told that this is the way that Mas set them up but this doesn't seem right, Any thoughts out there?

Just changed wife's Audi tyres for doing the same. Had it 4 wheel aligned when they where fitted new but worn badly on the inside now. I had a BMW X5 that did the same. Tyre people said that's just what they do. Recently changed Stradale tyres and they'd worn badly on the inside fronts.

My GT's tyres were worn on the inner edges, and the rest had 3-4 mm left.
I'm getting the tracking done as that can't be right.

Its normal for the 4200/GS and one to keep an eye on.

I had my first MOT fail for it last year...5mm on the outside and bald on the inside edge...was rather shocked.

Think I'm correct in saying Emblem have there own settings for wheel alignment to stop this happening.

Pretty sure anywhere with good alignment gear and the ability to use it would be able to dial this out, but if the actual Maserati settings gave the car excess toe / camber, they did it for a reason, and adjusting it out for tyre wear seems a bit crazy given that these are drivers cars.

That said, get the car adjusted, see how it drives, and take it from there.

The out of the box settings for the GT is some toe out. That makes them wear the inner edge, for the benefit of sharper turn in. No idea what the setting is for the GS etc.

I run my GT neutral on the advice of some experts :)

Same issue found on my QP when I had a ppi. Geoff at Shiltech said it was factory set but it could be dialled out if wanted. Will be getting 4 wheel alignment shortly so that will be done. I am not going to hoon it around a track so shouldn't affect handling too much.

This has been normal for many years, I remember the GTV suffering from that in the 90's. It's a pay off for how you want the car to handle, self centre etc, it's all one big compromise. I'm sure it could be set up for even wear across the centre of the tyre but it would probably handle like a wayward shopping trolley!

With mine on neutral it handles OK. I think Zepa and BluEletrico opted for similar set ups but could eb wrong...

Correct you beat me to it. Take it there and no more tyre wear and a better handling car all round.

We did as I recall. It's the toe that kills tyres (as well as camber for anyone with an Alfasud) so I went close to parallel and at the upper end on castor for self centring. Not that I really give a monkeys about tyre wear as long as I can drive like my hair is on fire

According to Wheels In Motion, camber kills them as well. The guys we did in 2016 (I don't recall) didn't add ballast. The camber on mine a couple of weeks back was *well* out when the car was weighted down......

Absolutely! Its interesting that the camber was out when they put the weight in - I am using CL this time for mine, I will make sure there is some weight involved!

If a car has negative camber as normal factory setting, it will cause wear on the inside of the tyre. The Porsche Turbo runs negative camber and the inner wear is perfectly normal.
I have no experience of toe an its effect on inner tyre wear.

No idea if the Maserati GT's or GS or 4200's run negative camber. A chassis expert is the one to give the full insight on tyre wear issues.

They put toe out on the front wheels to try and make a heavy car turn in quicker, if you set the toe to parallel it saves the tyres and you wouldn't tell the difference either..

If anything it feels more stable at (motorway) speed. It might feel slower on a track, I guess.

It's a typical motor industry trick... if I was a cynical bugger, I'd say there in collusion with the tyre manufactures too!
