Maserati at the Trafford Center

Hi,
passed by the Trafford Center (Manchester) tonight and they have a stand just outside John Lewis with a Ghibli and Quattroporte on display. Had a long chat with the lady on the stand and had a good look around.

My impressions?

The new cars don't have that handmade feel of the previous models, there's no whiff of Ferrari about these cars. They seem heavy and substantial and the leather seems harder and thicker than my QP.

The Ghibli is the better looking car, the interiors of both seemed nearly identical in appearance/feel. The QP had a funny steering wheel and NO paddles! Was told paddles are an option.

The girl told me they (Maserati) wanted to sell 1000 Ghibli's this year, I think thats possible as the car was definitely a rung up from a 5series/Eclass/A6/A7. The finish was good, the interior is attractive and feels substantial.

One surprise is that the boot on both cars had to be slammed shut, the electric close of the QP V was missing. No sign of where the battery is in the boot as well.

The Ghibli diesel base price 48k was specced up to 61k. It had some very nice ball polished alloys as well.

Sort of but the existing models felt and looked like a Ferrari inside. These new ones are more Merc/Audi in feel.

The cars were getting a good response from the passing public.
