Maserati Dealer Cardiff - disappointing

With the arrival of a maserati dealership into Cardiff, owners of pre-owned and older maseratis were at last rejoicing that local servicing was now a distinct possibility rather than having to trek to Birmingham or Swindon, however in reality the new Cardiff maserati are very much geared up for new vehicle owners and have little or no interested in servicing the older used market, owners of 3200's, 4200's and older QP's are not welcome at Cardiff maserati, as evident with charges of £150 for a diagnostic plugin, perhaps to clear a fault light, i recently took a QP to them for a simple purchase inspection, when i went to collect it after the inspection the alarm was continually going off and undrivable, it was fine before they had it however their attitude was "well take it or leave it" if you want us to check the alarm on the diagnostic it will be another £150, this is not the first time they have been so difficult and unhelpful, on another occasion about two months ago they inspected another maserati 4200 of mine and took 3 days to finish the 'day' inspection and then they subsequently missed a major problem, my experience with them has been a very unpleasant one and i would not recommend them to anyone.

Not a good read... I asked them to quote for the replacement of all the wishbones on a coupe - Just short of £12,000!

We are a bit out in the sticks for somewhere decent unfortunately.
I haven't experience of motorpoint Cardiff but wasn't given much confidence when I enquired shortly after getting mine. I was told they had a master tech in Maidstone ? And could call him up for advice! Mmm

I did an internet search and found datsu in Barry who held themselves out as specialising in masers. Absolute shambles so avoid like he plague. Ended up taking it out of there and going to lovetts in Swindon. Who solved the issue quickly but at great cost. Although you do get a nice loan car :)

Good Indy desperately required in this part of the world.

That is sad to hear. If they're not prepared to work on the older cars then fair enough, they should just politely say no and recommend someone who will - don't fleece the public and be rude to boot - not good

I did warn you all about the incompetence of this outfit, no idea about older cars, no interest, zero customer care.
I take mine to a mate in Worcester who has an ex Maserati engineer working for him. he knows the older cars inside out.

Not heard a good thing about them...Problem is they never had any experience with the marque so all new to them but there is no excuse for the above attitude....Shame....If you want a main dealer who cares take it to Dick Lovett.....Cardiff could learn a thing or two from them about customer service.

That's a real shame, dealers need to be honest about what they will/will not do. It's so easy to loose a reputation these days and virtually impossible to get that back.

Absolutely right, when Marshall opened in Peterborough they were very honest about not working on older models and recommended going to Shiltech in Loughborough instead. You know where you stand right away and have more respect for their honesty

I think these matters ought to be brought to the dealer, it sounds like they're consistently delivering poor service.

Perhaps best to advise Mas HQ in the UK, I'm sure they would like to know how MDs are perceived.

Similar experience here sadly - phoned twice to try and get some prices for parts - parts were busy but was told they would phone me back ASAP but nothing.

this is the reply i received from maserati uk after i invited them to read the forum posts,

Dear Sir,

thank you for your reply and for the information you provided us with.

However, we would like to remind you that without your full name and the full details of your vehicles, we cannot forward your e-mails to the relevant department for this issue to be further investigated.

Therefore we would be grateful if you could provide us with your full name, address and phone number. Should you not be the first owner of the vehicles you mentioned, we also ask you to send us a copy of the Vehicle Registration Documents of your Maserati vehicles.

In the meantime we remain at your disposal.

Kind regards,

Steve, I've had many dealings with Maserati, and with the information they normally are very prompt. At the very least, the MD will get a spank on the bum, given we're a prominent brand forum, albeit not official!

Can anybody recommend a nice independent Maserati specialist in South Wales ?

I have just moved from the midlands and used Migilore in Bromsgrove ( very good and knowledgeable ), but a bit of a hike.

Thanks

Not in South Wales but you could get Ftech in Exeter to do your work. They do offer a covered trailer service at fuel costs only.

Thats a really good deal - didn't realise they offered that.

Just to endorse Ian's comment-that is an excellent and really useful service that Ftech now provide.
