Magneto Marelli IAW 4cm as stated above. Same ECU for both types, but the later ecus state eobd and have the 16 pin plug. Early ones have 3 pin as per older Alfas/Fiats/Suzukis etc. There is also an odd crossover where the earlier ecu has a 16 pin plug but doesn't connect to eobd. Change over was 2001. Mine's an early 2001 MY car with the older ecu and 3 pin socket. Probably just using up spares in the factory.

Mine is a March 03 registered car, the previous owner bought the car at less then two years old as the third owner and on 11,000. The original clutch was changed under warranty at 13,000 (the spigot bearing was not changed), he drove it hard but very well before failing health (motor neuron disease) prevented him from driving it. I found out he was selling it and he managed to take me for a test drive, one I'll never forget, and I was sold! I picked it up with 31,124 on the clock. It is well over 58,000 now and I can assure everyone it has not done any of them lightly!

What I don't do is pu$$y foot about and always make a firm pull away, I NEVER launch it off the line but get it rolling then once the clutch is engaged give it the beans....

I am totally made up about the clutch reading, having lived in fear of a failing clutch for four years now; I would have been happy to have seen 95%, was expecting 98% and seriously doubting if it had it in it to make Modena. Now I am going with confidence and a target to get this clutch over 60,000!

Aldous, thank you again for giving me the best news for a long time :D

It was a pleasure to meet you Newton. Bring the car back after the trip to Italy and we'll see how much you managed to wear the clutch down in the mountains!

OK - so I've had a dig around and it seems the Magneti Marelli IAW ECU is supported by the tool under a number of Alfa Romeos and a ton of Fiats. I think there is a good chance of being able to connect to the ECU using the OBD port.

Also, could someone post a picture of the old style connector? If it is shared with Alfa then there is a good chance Texa make a lead to connect to it and we could have a go via the old style port.

If someone with a OBD 3200 in the London area fancies having a whirl at connecting to their ECU then please PM me.

The pleasure was mine thanks; I know I have a good strong car but that was icing on the cake to know I have more than 30% left on the clutch!!! I will give you a shout on returning from the trip.

For sure when I do change the clutch I will do it myself so it would be a real opportunity to set it up with that great bit of kit you have.

The connector looks like this.

The PIS was at 4.8 which Aldous thinks has kept it so well and given the incredibly low wear factor < 3,000

Fair play mate.
I'm of the same belief get the car rolling and then gun it.
Never had mine read on the 4200.
On the 360 it had worn by 1% in 12 months and I drove her the same as forum members who went in her will remember.
The only way to use these fine machines.
Phil.

I've spoken with my Texa rep and they do sell a cable, at £200! However he reckons that one of the adapters as shown works just as well. I've ordered one one off eBay so if anyone with a non-OBD 3200 wants to try connecting to their ECU drop me a PM.

Hoping to hook up with Aldous soon for a post centenary (post, alpine passes & track) run shake down diagnostic to see how much clutch was eaten and if anything else developed, in particular if the induction has caused any upsets!

Seconded. Two birds with one stone, I feel.

Friday, but I need to do some stuff next weekend, and get a dentist at some point....

Go ahead without me if needed.

No probs, I'm hoping we can sort it sooner rather than later so the data is more meaningful...
