Hi Everyone,
I am new here and looking for some advice please if possible.

There is a Quattroporte for sale on Ebay that I am looking at which seems a very good price and I have been looking for one of these for quite a while now and I love the colour of this one etc.
It does look in lovely condition and also states that it has a new clutch fitted etc. There is a sensor fault on dashboard and it does have a ding on the passenger door, other than that I really like the car but wondering if anyone out there owns a quattroporte and could advise me of common faults etc. before I take the plunge :battered:
Thanks

Cam covers can leak oil
suspension mounts are oil filled so ensure they are in good condition
Chrosion on areas of the sub frame
check brake discs for wear - they cost a lot
listen for any rattles on start up - vairaitos can fail and cost thousands to replace
electronic niggles can be difficult and costly to fix
ensure all the warning lights work and no bulbs have been removed

I would always recommend a full inspection by a professional. £300 spent but could save you thousands.

Pattern brake disks are now readily available - £130 or so, so not really a problem now.

What sensor fault is showing?

Hi Ducato and a big warm welcome to the forum.....QP's are amazing cars and the one you are looking at looks a very good price.......

This is what happened Drew......

'When clutch was replaced pk supercars nipped a wire on the gearbox sensor plug which has resulted with a light on the dash (they can confirm this) it doesn't affect the car in any way whatsoever, I was supposed to take it back to them for a replacement sensor but given distance and time I just have not got around to it. '

If it PK Supercars did this then surely you could get it sorted and they would need to pay...

Sounds a bit hard to believe that they had knowingly nipped a cable and have not fixed it.
Also, if a sensor was niped and the light is on, then something about the car behaviour will be different.

Buyers beware etc ...

Worth giving them a call at the very least

C

Thanks a lot guys, yes this is the car, I contacted the seller and told me that someone interested had contacted the garage that serviced the car and they confirmed that they have the sensor waiting to be fitted, the seller said that he just can't take a day out of work to return the car to the garage again and a day to go back and collect.

I called Phil about it. The clutch was done in 2013 it has done 1700 miles since. Not had time to look at it although its just across the water from me. He is a very busy guy Phil confirmed that. It has advisory notice on front & rear brakes jacking point corrosion (common on these I'm told) and a couple of other bits it is a honest car he said.

2K + body work bits (dent master) type stuff so £300-500.

In that case it looks like a very good deal.
Its one of the cheapests I have seen and the interior looks mint

It's is THE cheapest at £11995 and that's the starting point.....You may well get it a bit cheaper. Some great advice on here for you to go armed with. It looks a lovely car in the advert. May be worth getting an independant inspection first.

I see there is only one key and he was going to get another but not got around to it......Sure someone can confirm but isn't this expensive to get another key or not.

Was quoted by Graypaul in Nottingham 12 months ago:
Key £223.60+VAT & Programming around £55.00+VAT (why they quote around I don't know)
So best part of £335.00, no wander he's never got round to it!

This will be my 5th Summer with my QP, no issues apart from routine maintenance for me...

Just keep the battery on an optimiser...

good luck

It's a **** sight cheaper than having to break in if you lose it, replace everything you broke and buy two new keys/codes/sync/labour etc..........totally false economy not to get a second one!

cheers Wattie
