MrRR couldn't open the petrol flap for his newly acquired Merc as the electronic wizzardry is broken (a common problem seemingly) - "use a credit card" advised the dealer - problem solved.

Maybe they should change the name of the keyless nonsense from ‘comfort access’ or whatever it’s called to ‘easy steal’.

“So sir, you have chosen special paint, upgraded wheels and panoramic roof as options, would you like to add easy steal?’

“That sounds great, I’ll tick easy steal too because pressing a button is very difficult.”

The wife's Merc has keyless entry, and like you I do not see the point.

I have to keep the keys in a metal drawer just to be on the safe side.

But all gizmos are vulnerable you credit card can be copied, and only yesterday i had some Indian bloke phoning me to say money had been drawn from my bank account etc. etc. usual scam.

Reputation wise, India is getting as bad as Nigeria for scammers.

Well now you mention it I have one neighbour who is not happy with my workshop which is totally legal and I pay my taxes here problem is he doesn't like cars.

It pre-dates you, at the property, and probably him, did he have an issue when it was a timber mill?

From what I’ve seen mate, you have only made improvements at the house. I suspect it is more that you have woken up a very sleepy French hamlet…

Be interesting to compare the stats ( if they exist ) I'd bet that there were less car thefts when old fashioned brass things were used to open and start cars , I think they were called keys if my memory serves me right , have we really taken a step forward with the electronic keyless entry and start ...I think not

I have been keeping my Jag keys in an old metal sweet tin in the hall for years, thinking they were shielded.

Then my son got himself some fancy Audi RS3 and is rightly paranoid about it getting stolen, he tested the tin by taking it out to the cars and they worked anyway.

I have since bought a smart “Faraday box” and that does shield the signal.

It nuts, isn’t it..? It sometimes feels like you need a password and two stage authentication to buy a pint of milk, whilst thieving gits can make off with a £100K Maserati in less than a minute..!
I wonder how much consumer demand drives it too though…
Did someone mention ticking an option..? Sadly, I don’t think so.
I might venture to suggest the Sex Pistols had it right..” it’s a rip off !”

You've got it right Newton he didn't like the Carpenter who had been here since the 50's and he's been here less than 20 years.

I recommend starting a cockerel farm Phil.
Having suffered the insanity of my neighbour’s cock obsession for six years, I can honestly say a man can only take so much cock..!
Pretty sure everybody in France loves a cockerel, n’est ce pas? If not, sweet revenge. Drive him to the brink of insanity with an incessant cocophony of charmless, repetitive crowing. Dawn til dawn…:welcome1:

One has to be sure to post the mandatory warning notice of said Cock farm just to ensure the positive vibe before said cockfight :argue1:

I've been reading up recently and apparently Porsche Macan's have the technology inbuilt, even If you don't spec it.

So your key might not be setup for keyless, but your car is still looking for signals etc

Absolute scum of the earth car thief's.
