New model Black Quattroporte just outside of Wooton Bassett at lunchtime today.

Ok, it was actually me!

Took one for a spin today, the V6TT engine is very nice indeed, and the auto box is also excellent.

What lead time are they quoting..??

3-4 months. It shouldn't put me off but I'm finding it somewhat irksome, as I was originally told that if I put an order in at the end of August, I would see a delivery in October. It's not really the dealership's fault, I'm sure they would get one for me tomorrow if they could.

It's frustrating as I know I could walk into a BMW garage and get an M3 pretty sharpish and with a nice discount. I wonder how many potential buyers are being put off by the lack of deals to be had and long lead times...

I think this is one of the problems Maserati will face. Going in to the Mass market is a different game and I don't think they are switched on to that yet, if they are not careful the launch will flounder and sales will be mediocre until things get going and they have stock..!!

I think I would be a little more worried if there wasn't a lead time. That would mean no demand. If you walk into a BM dealership and bought an M3 there and then with a big discount that would mean they are making too many and struggling to shift them. Why discount if you are selling more than you can make?

A week or two is not bad, but 3 to 4 months..?? There are no early orders zooming around the roads, no stock in the dealers and apparently no stock at the factory, now I don't call that a launch, it's a bit of a mess..!! Imagine a new game being launched and on the day with the thousands queing, somebody announced there was no stock after all and it would be 3 to 4 months..??

Yeah, it's pretty ****. To add to that, the dealerships are apparently 'rationed' in the amount of cars they can get, so if you don't get your order in then you may have to wait even longer, or even have to go elsewhere.

I also have issues with the cost of some of the options. Some are good value, such as the flappy paddles option (250 quid), but others are a bit of a rip-off for the price point. For instance, if I want 21" wheels instead of 20" wheels, then I have to pay two grand more.

All the 'fun' of buying a new car is seeping away. Still, nice to finally test out that new engine.

This morning on the M25 a dark blue GT. I almost drove mine this morning by coincidence...but didn't :frusty5:

By the way...do folks on here tend to 'garage-up' their prized possessions in the winter or, notwithstanding the extremities of snow, carry on driving throughout the year?

I own a car. It just so happens that my car is a Maserati. Aren't I lucky?

When I need to go somewhere in my car, I drive my car.

Simples :D

Personally, we usually garage both ours for the winter. Dependant on the weather, if it's a nice dry, sunny day, even in winter, we might just get them out and go for a spin. Driving these cars in snow is not brilliant with normal tyres, so take car if you decide to give it a go..!!

Met a new owner in norton canes services ( you always get a better class of filler upper there as it's on the M6 Toll and you have to pay to be there!!!), very nice motor. Good to meet you over the pumps ...hope you enjoy!,
