Black GT and QP at Platinum motors when we were testing a 53 Japanese import spyder with 42,000km on the clock - but I think Roary will be staying with us for the time being at least (especially as SI are currently replacing the rear wishbones....)

A motorcyclist in Redditch 'spotted' my QPV today, and asked what 'model' it was. He says he struggled to pass a 'big Maserati' at speed few days ago, on his impressively quick bike, and said he was extra surprised as it was a convertible. We established that it was a Grancabrio. He asked what the top speed was, because he had to do 160 to pass the Grancabrio!

Just out if interest, and without reading it all, does this thread ever lead to…..that was me?

I've never been spotted :(

Maybe I drive too fast to get noticed...

Someone I spotted a couple of months back on the M5 saw my post and confirmed it was them.

Few and far between though (bit like the marque)

My first Maserati was spotted and photographed on here a few years ago by a fellow forum member in a random car park miles away from my home town.

I have noticed a few more spots and confirmation in the last 12 months.

I think part of the reason the spots are not acknowledged is because often the spotter is not is their own Mas at the time so the Mas driver doesnt realise they have been spotted by a fellow marque owner.

I think the rules are:-
The spotter gets 20 SM points plus a further 10 if they identify the owner.
If you are spotted, you get 10 SM points but only if you identify yourself unless you choose not to as you were doing slightly over 69 mph.
The spotter will get a further 5 points if they themselves are in a Maserati too.
A further 5 points are awarded for instant mutual recognition (a nod, a wave, a flash of the lights are sufficient, a firm handshake, anything more is just gratuitous)
Mutual spots are allowed.
Half points are awarded if you meet a fellow member 'randomly' at non-motoring venues/events without a car. i.e pubs, sporting stadia, foreign airports, Bangkok Massage Parlours.

Only 'random' spots are allowed, i.e if you are meeting up a fellow owner/group 'spots' are not allowed. However, if you are not part of that group and spot them as they travel, then this is allowed. Case in point, a group were travelling to Alton or Dman's cafe (I forget which) and stopped at a car park to meet others, a fellow member spotted us but he was out shopping for a sofa with his Mrs. he came over introduced himself and let his Mrs go shopping. He got around a 100 points but had to pay for a very expensive sofa...so dedication is required.

I got slightly confused (but that's to be expected). So how many points do I loose for undertaking a Ghibli on the Powick to Worcester dual carriageway yesterday. Despite my flashing and horning he continued to overtake the ghosts on the inside lane

Oh in that case, you get 10 points for every 'ghost' he overtook. They get -1000 points for driving like a zombie (their eyes appear to be open but the brain has clearly switched off!)
