That's a fast car and I would love one. I have driven the McLaren MP4 and I loved the engineering on that, but this looks like a slight step up..!!

It moves the game on.....huge performance step forward by all account...or that's what Clarkson said.......but its not hard to drive when not gunning it........Rob, love MP4...some say its mega fast but not involving enough...is that the case.....The convertable is just stunning.

I found it fast and incredibly smooth, the gearchange was almost invisible. A really nicely engineered car, no rattles, just solid and it behaved impecably even when being pushed ******* bends. Tiny little paddles that moved with the wheel, clear clocks and comfortable to drive. The only issue I could actually find was the large step over to get in and out, it was big, but that's more protection so I would live with that, but ladies might find it a little awkward..!! It's one of those cars that it's difficult to tell how fast you are going until you glance at the clock, really smooth..LOVE IT..!!

I wonder what time they got round the ring? Press are saying under 7 minutes, so its reasonably quick then! Average speed of 11 MPH. Nice.

EVO went there with them and they said they never intended to say what the time was as they left that sort of thing to others.....

20.83km = 13.02 miles approx, in under 7 minutes, that's an average of around 111.6 mph.. or less!!

Porsche 918 lapped in 6.57 and rumours circulating P1 was 10 seconds quicker.
Given McLaren confirming sub 7 minutes then it can't be slower by much than the 918 even if it wasn't quicker.

I heard a rumour that they are not publishing a time until the La Ferrari attempts the track as they do not want to give Ferrari a time to focus on or beat. But who knows...

A guy who owns one of these on another forum claims 6.2 secs!

The Perfect everyday Supercar then Robert....Apart from the MPG....For me its not as obvious or crass as a Ferrari...Still love the 458 mind you...It would be a hard choice.

I would say so Andy, if I got the chance and the sheckels to spare, I would have one..!! I do like the 458 too and they are a similar price, both seem to hold price, some you can get more than retail for when used, all good news..!!

When I drove the MP4 I couldn't wait to get out of it, I didn't like it at all. In fact it broke after 2 laps around the outside of the TopGear test track. They said I could have another go when it was fixed but I declined and opted to take out a Balboni which I much preferred. I don't know what it was but I just didn't gel with it. I'd rather have a 430 Scud, I know it's not as fast but it's more my kind of car. There were two MP4s on the SCD Euro tour last year and they both broke down, twice, before they got to the Tunnel. Not good.
