Days gone by.
50 years ago with John Davenport on the Monte. Yes--50 years! No trailers then so drove up to Glasgow for the start. Back down to Dover and then the long way round France to Monte to start the competitive bit. Lots of snow that year caused all sorts of problems for the organisers with stages cancelled and blocked route in the Ardeche. We made it to the finish and the feeling driving down to Monte in the morning sunshine and the final control was something special.
