My GS's first proper clean

I've wanted to give my GS a good clean since i got it but just haven't had the time or weather but today (bar a few rain interuptions) i finally got it done

for what it's worth here's what i did and used
> Jet Wash with Karcher pressure washer - a side note, i wanted to refill the plug and clean tub thing that connects to it but realised they make it a locking lid forcing you to buy a whole new tub at £9 each so i sacked that idea off, robbing bastards
> wash - two bucket method, cleaning using warm water and Zymol 'Clean', rinse in a bucket with some Autogylm shampoo/conditioner
> clay bar - i use a bilt hamber one as it only needs water as lubricant, it does a good job even though i never spend enough time on this part of the process
> rinse
> dry - autoglym cloth thing
> rain delay and had to go out for a bit so was going to stop here
> got back and the weather was nice so i cleaned up the car quickly with Maguires Wash & wax anywhere
> polish type stuff using Zymol 'Treat' this smells like chocolate, i tried it, it doesn't taste like chocolate
> wax using Zymol carbon wax

anyway here's what it looked like once done

Looks great. Personally, I prefer the slightly smaller front plates, but clean wise, you've done a good job. I'm with you on the taste thing though - I've yet to find a cleaning product that tastes as good as it smells! :)

On And'y comment, above.....biased though I am, I do think black suits the GS shape. Here's a gratuitous pic of mine when I cleaned her up previously.

Thanks all, I love the GS in black (though I haven't yet seen a colour it doesn't look good in) but it's a nightmare to keep clean.
I'm going to do the interior today, still trying to find the best way of cleaning the tech cloth without leaving water marks

Woody yours is beautiful, it seems to sit a little lower than mine, has it been lowered

I was considering a smaller plate but couldn't find a picture of one with it after looking through the classifieds etc so wasn't sure what it would look like, what size have you gone for? I'm not sure on the legality of smaller plates, not that I min about that sort of thing but as I look relatively young I get some funny looks from the local police when out in the car and don't want to give them the excuse to pull me

I dont have tech cloth, but I would use water spray and brush. Don't use much water as you will get the stains. I did this on the MINI recently as it has some water marks on the seats and it worked a treat.

Gotta shoot out now but I'll post some pics of a smaller plate later (and will measure it).

Not sure a smaller plate would work on the Maser, being a 'full size car'
I've a smaller plate, a little bigger than 3/4, that I had on my Elise, being a 'smaller' car.
If I get a minute, will do a before and after.

Cheers, appreciated
Sorry about the delay, today's the first chance I've had to take a pic/measure the plate! Size wise, its approx 15.5 inches x 3.5 inches. I *think* its 3/4 size.

Pic taken this morning....

And one of the car in the wild so you can get an idea of what it acutally looks like!

Cheers Woody that does look good, I typically replace my plates every few years as the front one gets marked up so I may go for 3/4 one next time

2nd pic is superb

I had a small one on an Elise like that...Got a tug by the boys iin blue and asked to change it...If I was caught again I would be hung drawn and quartered.

The small plates suit the maser, it's what they use in Italy anyway : )

If Italians can drive their car round the uk with a tiny one, why can't we?

I've been stopped and done for speeding as well as getting pulled way over the speed limit when they couldn't prove it and they we're not at all happy, but not a word said about The plate. I do keep a full size one in the boot ready with the excuse that I had swapped to show and forgot to replace. Bu never had to use that.
