Hi Guys,
Do all Maserati 4200 05 plates have a tracker installed as standard? Suffering the common small parisitic battery drain.

Called Navtrak (who are now Vodafone) as advised and after giving them the VIN number they have no record of any tracker on my car.

Not really a problem tbh as when It's garaged and unused for over a week I isolate the battery anyway. I have also taken an ammeter reading to ground and it fluctuates around 400mA with nothing obvious.
Seems to be a common issue which I can live with as she's not a run around car.

Just having read the tech documents, the sleep current of these is meant to be around 35mA

I can't help but wonder if we are seeing some component failure.

There are other companies that offer trackers, but not sure how you'd get hold of them :(

NavTrak are now Vodafone? Not surprised they could not find any records, they are useless.

I thought all Maserati of this era came with NavTrak fitted as standard(?)

I presume someone has looked into getting a subscription and using the tracker?

Any ideas of cost, or is it simply not possible now?

I asked about a new one. It was eek. And my insurance would go *up* (same as if I tell them I have CCTV over the drive)

Pulled mine out myself it looked like it had been put in by an ape, the quality of the install was shocking! I have the car on a c-tek battery conditioner anyway but I feel happier after removing the sh1t installation....

They wanted £270pa for mine but no benefit on insurance premium so didn't bother.

That's probably more like it Doohickey. Foolishly bought two years worth which worked out about £200 a year on the advice of broker who indicated that it'd reduce premiums by bout 25%, so thought what the ****. Then broker discovered that it doesn't apply to high value vehicles.
Ah well.

That doesn't surprise me actually.. Mine went up when I garaged a car (not Maser) as apparently the world is full of idiots who reverse their cars into their garage, and things inside it..!

My insurance premium is only £365 so on that front, I'm out too.

I do fancy having a go at setting up my own tracker with one of those cheap Chinese / eBay trackers and a giffgaff sim but more as a small project than something of any use ;)

What kind of idiot would do that! ;)

I did it going forwards :)

In honesty, though, I feel even I would struggle to reverse into a CCTV camera....

Mine was down in the left hand rear foot well under the carpet just below the rear seat.
Not needed here in New Zealand now.
Found it when repairing the floors damaged by the shippers.
Every cloud has a silver lining.
