I'm guessing if you find bananas grippy then you've got pirelli tyres on
Haha. On the Strad yes. Shocking! But bizarrely they are listed as A in the wet on tyre sites whereas Michelins are B. Shows the labelling is complete moopoo.

When I had the 3200ac I bought the ac spec pirellis at some expense, they weren't very good . As mentioned alot on here, if its a hot country pirelli good. On a cold day in the northwest however , full throttle with traction off means your looking through your side window Down the road

The best advice has been mentioned already. Put aside roughly 250/month for running costs. That should cover you, including tyres.

(This is assuming you are not planning of doing lots of miles/year…..)

Like lots of Italian cars suspension bits are like consumables, and with QP’s being 2 tonnes this makes it worse. Mine is just about to have its second set of upper wishbone bushes in 3 years for example, not cheap.

It’s all worth it though for 250/month, as they are not depreciating any more. Man maths are essential!

Just another thing to mention, although VED is high, top band at £600/year, insurance is surprisingly cheap, mine’s less than £350/year.
Cost more to insure my family runabout 13 year old Lexus 4x4!
We’ll gloss over the mpg with 1.55/litre super unleaded……

You definitely need a specialist.

I'm not sure if Migliore do inspections, but they are fairly near and good guys.
I've just spotted this thread and apologise if I am re-stating this, but this message of commendation certainly needs to be seen in this thread...
Last year, when I was looking to buy a QP5, I had several cars inspected before buying. Vic at Migliore inspected one of them. He was exceptional. Knowledgeable, easy to work with, pleasant, helpful and thorough. He was also happy to talk me through a specialist workshop's view of the ownership prospect that a QP5 represents - invaluable to me, entirely new to Maserati. I felt as if, having committed to paying the inspection fee, I was a member of Vic's "help and advice on Maseratis" club. The only down side was that I had to get the car to him, but to their credit, HR Owen, who were selling it, did so and left Vic to do the inspection un impeded.
On that basis, I can thoroughly recommend Vic and Migliore for a pre purchase inspection of a QP5
It would even be worth taking him a car you did not intend to buy, just to get his advice on the marque and model.

One practical point about inspection before purchase...
I did not have the expertise to inspect the vitally important subframe on the cars I was interested in (I engaged with maybe 10 and got as far as a paid for inspection on 3). But I could test the ancillaries - electric windows, electric seats, radio, electric rear blind, sunroof, mirrors, air conditioning... the list goes on. These seemingly trivial things will not (unlike the subframe) put an end to your ownership experience but they will niggle. Parts availability (and therefore time and cost) to fix them will not be as good as we have come to expect from our ownership experience with mainstream cars.
But don't hold back.
I, for one, have found it well worth all the pain of the first time buying process and have no regrets. Every month I drive the car it finds a new way to delight me. Passengers love it. I still find myself just gazing at it, parked on my drive. It is a gorgeous piece of automotive engineering/ automotive art. It is by far the most enchanting car I have ever owned and I would not swap it for anything.

Another option for an inspection would be north of Wolverhampton and I'd recommend Marios at Autoshield Maserati in South Manchester. Marios and his team are superb on anything Maserati. The journey will be M6 North to J19 and then A556/M56 past Manchester Airport. He is about 3-4 miles from the Airport Junction on the M56.
