A man who changed a country.

Did time for believing in his views, then went on to become prime minister of the country.

Have seen a few flms of his life and he was an unbelievable man.

Thought id let you all know he just died.

A remarkable man on so many levels........he puts so many latter day "heroes" not only into the shade.....but into the darkest recesses of humanity

He wasn't a politician...........that would be almost to insult him Dem....he transcended the utterly corrupt and inept class that call themselves politicians

I was thinking about Mandela this afternoon. I was in the Royal Festival Hall and outside, there's the most enormous bust of him. A remarkable man and a name that will live on down the ages.

A man who held his beliefs and saw them through to the end. A real world changer and there aren't many of those.

RIP

A true legend.

I had the honour to work in SA in the '90s not long after his release and the formation of the new ANC government. The atmosphere in the country was palpable. Their love for him was visible. The belief in the future was up-lifting. It was an emotional time.

Very true, I wonder if Gerry Adams will get this kind of reaction when he dies?

History will be the judge of that.........after....all the apartheid system in S Africa certainly regarded Mr Mandela as a terrorist......in the RoI when they fought their war of independence and then Irish Civil war, a number of the revered republicans where regarded as terrorists by fellow Irishmen..........

Check back in 50-60 years Nick
