Lads 3 year old 5th Gen iPad battery has suddenly taken a dive, so checked up on battery replacements.
Not something easy to do checking up, and Apple want £99.
While on line checked up on the new iPad launched a few weeks ago, then noticed a trade in deal, £125, then 5% discount if used for education, end result a brand new iPad for £184. I can live with that after 3 years.

Yes, phoned up the local store to check stock, they asked if it was business, personal, or education. I said education for my Son, 5% discount £309.
Asked about trade in, gave them the serial number, £125 discount.
Paid over the phone, collected an hour later.
Rather painless!

Thanks. Unfortunately my ipad is older. Completed the serial number question got to a question on whether touch or face recognition works. It has neither. Say yes £65. Say no recycle for free! Was the education uni or school?

Just said for education, no other details asked or proof required.
To be honest you can possibly get 5% cheaper not buying direct from Apple. It was just a little bonus on top of the trade in.
If buying say a £1,000 laptop, it's £50 though of course.

Sounds like my old iPad, which is stuck on iOS[old]. Still, it works well enough. A bit slow, but mostly ok for web browsing.

Incidentally, when I've bought Macs in the past with an education discount they've needed a .edu email address to confirm the discount. More recently I've pre-ordered and bought in Dixons at Heathrow, where the prices are generally lower then usual.

Normally buy all my electricals from John Lewis. You get an extra 1 or 2 year warranty on top of manufacturer and most are the same price as Currys etc. Although tv's are richer sounds because you get 6year warranty.

I did this with my daughters iPhone, cheaper, plus I get 7% discount with all currys group companies through work too. No good for trading in though.
