Yes it is, having tried it recently.

Whilst I do like the look of the new Stradale, I can't believe it hasn't been given any new technology over the years.

Did read that ..... 9 speeds !!!!!! ..... think I would forget what gear I was in.

I think the point is that you should never know, it's just a washing machine albeit a Miele.

Funnily enough I drove an A6 recently when the S3 was in for a service. It was a 170/180PS diesel with the CVT gearbox. I was amazed how good the gearbox felt, all autos - regular, CVT, DCT - have come a long way in the last decade.

The latest ones are very good....flappy paddle double clutch ones are brilliant compared to the ones used in the Maserati...

Yes, the PH review of the Stradale was not complimentary about the gearbox and Evo are similar on the single clutch system used by AM.

You would have thought Maserati would have gone this route as Ferrari used double clutch technology...

They are just waiting for the call from Maranello to be allowed to use it.

It really annoys me how much Ferrari is holding back development at Maserati in terms of engines and transmissions.

It does feel like they have held back.....Ferrari have used these for a few years now.

As Maserati separates off from Ferrari it will be interesting to see where this goes. The new GS should be a good indicator.

This is the absolute core of my frustration and unwillingness to hand over to Maserati large £££ for something like a new GTS or Stradale.

Take the currenty Stradale: 110-120K, but:
Platform = QP = ~12 years old
Cambio Corsa = ~11 years old
4.7 V8 lump = ~7 years old

Putting aside 'prestige' and 'exclusivity', is this really VFM when compared to, say, an R8 V10?

The residual values are a good indicator.

I'm sure there will be some who say "it's not about value for money" ... well that's great for those with so much money that they don't have to worry about what it translates into!
