New owner, auto dimming operation?

Hi, recently purchased a 2009 GTS and was looking at the auto dimming mirror functionality. I’ve not tried it in the dark yet but it looks like it should have an illuminated light in the mirror itself, which on any other car I’ve owned is illuminated when functioning. Can’t see any option to switch it on or off either. Any advice on correct operation? Thanks

Never noticed any light on the mirror. I find it has to be getting quite dark before the lights come on. I think the sensitivity can be adjusted.

Thanks. I agree it does seem to need to be really dark before the auto lights switch on, guess that seems standard. Need to give it a spin in the dark I suppose and see what happens

I don't recall a light on mine. Don't think you can turn it off either. Have to say, I wouldn't *want* to, but each to their own....

You can adjust the sensitivity of the auto lights. Just be aware that the auto lights and the dash illumination are *not* linked...... Go figure.

Over time you will find that your natural reluctance to put up with unreliability/Italian character will auto dim as well. It will become life as usual and, when it does, you will truly become one of us. Only then will you be at peace with the universe and everything in it.

I think he means warning lights coming on, seats that move only when you don’t want them to and when you do, they stubbornly refuse.

I have a driver's seat that auto-heats. Every now and then it decides it wants to put the seat heating on - normally when it's hot outside. Go figure....

Does anyone know which way the auto lights sensor goes - ie in the NIT - is a setting of 3 the most or least sensitive to darkness?

That's often due to water having dripped from the roof into the seat controls. Some contact cleaner and working it back and forth can yield a cooler bum....

Nope! Never worked it out! Oh and it works out some kind of average as well, between multiple sensors! A little too much Chianti I feel!
